I'm going to visit London next month, so could you guys recommend me the best places around the Heathrow, and (more important) the most suitable hotel nearby the runway, to shoot from its windows. I've noticed a couple of them last time, but have forgotten their names unfortunately.

Renaissance London Heathrow, albeit I wouldn't recommend it on a sunny or bright (cloudy but bright) day, because you will be on the north side of 27R, also, it might not be the best when the 09's are in use because to my knowledge 09L is only used for landings. It is however a wonderful hotel, if you choose to get the club access for an extra 10 pounds, you can sit in a climate controlled room with free drinks/food, and you will not want to leave, as I spent about 5 or 6 hours here without standing up, all relaxed in a comfy chair next to the window, it was marvellous.

Yes, I would recommend the Ibis. Depending on the room you request, you can either face the terminals or get them on landing.
This shot is from one of the windows. Please remember the quality is not good as it was uploaded during the earlier days of Airliners and also that it was early morning and the sun was in the wrong position:

The Ibis and Renaissance are on the same side of LHR (what we will call the 27R side - since landings on this runway are really the best option for photos). You must remember that LHR runway usage rotates, so that on one week, 27R would be used for landings in the morning and then, at about 3.00, the landings switch over to 27L. Then, the following week, 27L is used in mornings. (Obviously, this will change if the wind requires the use of the 09s).
What you need to do is to ensure that 27R will be used for landings and the best way to do this is probably to call LHR ops and if you have a diary, use a highlighting pen to write in the alternate weeks when 27R will be used.
With 27R in use for landings and a runway view room at the Renaissance, it is just superb for photos!
