Wouldn´t be greate if there was two extra fields on the upload section of a.net for "Camera used" and "film brand/type"?! That info would give a us amatures a chance to compare different films and cams.

Utterly useless.
The best, most expensive camera in the hands of a poor operator cannot make good pictures.
A master photographer can get great pictures with the cheapest camera there is.
And photos on this site depend a lot more on skills with scanners and photoprocessing software than they do with camera and film anyway.

This is often asked for - but unnecessary ... firstly photographers can, and sometimes do, list their equipment in their profiles.
Secondly, the comment field can be used to add shot details - a few of us do, others don't. Adding additional fields is not, I think, going to get those who don't want to add this info.

Maybe a (Camera/Lens),(FILM Type/DIGITAL),(Scanner/NA) sections where you can omit the scanner section if you are digital, and omit the film section as well, by saying "digital"
Just a thought, but I think it would be a good idea!

For the time being, all you would have to do if you find a pic you really like, is send an e-mail to the photographer asking him/her what type of equipment they are using. Most of us would be flattered to answer this as it can be taken as a compliment on our pics. I have had a few such e-mails and I've also e-mailed other photographers about their equipment used.

I like the idea, but prefer the photographer profiles that have already been suggested many times.
Simply because I'm tired of replying to those "Which camera are you using?" emails.
Colin, the profile you're mentioning, do you mean the forum user profiles? These can't be found automatically from the photos, if I'm correct.

Maybe there could be a comment on the upload page that states that it would be nice if you added your cam/film/scan info in the comments for the picture you are about to upload. This way there would be no need for changes on the upload codes for a.net
