If possible i need confirmation that spotting is still ok at MCO. The last time i came over to the USA was prior to Sept 11 and i had no problems spotting from the 2nd from top level of the car park (Eagle level).
I had confirmation a few month's ago that MCO was still ok but as per all US airports if i got the wrong security guy on the day i could be asked to move on.
If anyone can confirm MCO is still mainly trouble free can they let me know. I will be visiting in early June.
Also does TPA have anymore to offer than MCO. Or are they pretty much the same sort of traffic and frequency. Also does the same rule apply to TPA as to MCO regarding security. I have again been told that the main central car park is the best for spotting,is this true ??
Thanks
Simon

I've never been on top of the car park to spot, so I can't help you there. MCO gets more flights than TPA, and probably a better variety. They get BA 777's a few times a week and Condor 767 too. MCO gets 3 VS 747's in the summer, a BA (should be 777 by June), Martinair, LTU once a week, etc.

Danny, how long will you be around MCO?? Next week if I have anytime off, and the weather is good I might be around there for a bit. McCoy RD, and Delta Air Cargo parking lot by runway 17 is also good.

I'll be around the Orlando area for two weeks, although I'll probably only have one day around the airport. Don't know what day I'll be there, have to pick a day I'm not at a theme park!

my jetblue flight landed 17/35 and i imagine that it's the best runway for them. i never saw them land on the 18's either while i was spotting at the road.

Simon,
No problem on top of the lower car parking lots at MCO in February, but the higher one right on top of the terminal was closed. The top of the lower lots affords views over mainly the Delta area. Likewise no problems on McCoy Road, but of course you miss stuff landing on the Delta side and if the 36s are in use McCoy is hopeless.
Tampa is a bit slower traffic wise but a lot easier - there was a vehicle inspection as we drove in, but no problems on the top of the main parking lot all day.
