Hi guys was looking over a couple of photo gear sellers sites on the web and noticed that a couple of them where selling lenses that required a "T mount adaptor"

What is this? is this some sort of vain attempt to adopt a universal standard lens mounting or what?

Is there any advantages to using a lens like this on a camera vs. a traditional screw or bayonet mount. Is there something special to it.

Once a common very basic mount, often found with 500mm mirror lenses, slide copiers etc. No autofocus or metering coupling, it just mounts lens to the camera.

They have no user advantages except simplicity and low cost.
