Hi all!
Especially for those on the "other side" of the world.
I would have some questions regarding Autralian Airports namely Melbourne, SYD, and then up the east coast to Cairns. Are there any information sites about those airports regarding photo positions? I think the most worthy airport regarding variety would be SYD although the pictures wouldnt be accepeted here because of being common .
Any info would be highly appreciated.
THX
Peter
I'm not sure of anything similar for Queensland or Victorian airports though. At most of our country airfields you will see plenty of Cessna and Piper models - it's the major cities that have the big airports. Those being Melbourne, Canberra, Coolangatta, Brisbane, Maroochydore, Rockhampton, Townsville and Cairns.

Hi Peter,
also a warm welcome from my side - there are far too many good spots around SYD to list them all ... if you drive up the east coast you'll come across quite a few airports where its quite easy to get ramp access .... just put on your Austrian/German accent and you'll be fine ..... that how I do it !
For any further questions ... pls feel free to e-mail me any time !

Oh no, not more Sydney pictures on the way!!!
Glad you realise Peter that we're going to be much more picky about any pics you take in Sydney than we were about your Moscow pictures!

PS: Melbourne - loads of vantage points around the perimiter (and are the two decks still open - I think not?) but you need a car. Long time since I was there so specifics are a bit difficult to remember. Make sure that ias well as the "famous" airports in Sydney you go to Bankstown, and in Melbourne you go to Essenden and Moorabbin

Hi Peter,
Melbourne has a couple of good viewing areas. There's only one available observation deck here now thought but it's very popular. My mate and fellow A.net photographer has and excellent site with detailed info on MEL and it's spotting areas. The address is http://www.rwy34.com

MEL looks good, there have been some brilliant photos uploaded from there by Jason, David and some other guys who I forget the names of .
Also, Cairns is really great, I haven't been around the airport but I'm pretty sure you can get ramp access (Frank and Craig did it!?), and if you go to the botannical gardens, up on the hillside you get a great view over the whole airport, so bring your giant telephoto lens!
