So what? There are lots of photogs that go unnoticed when they are published.

Yes, I hope you have the same attention with hundreds of other photographers that got photos published.

The TAM A330 was a super shot, I like it a lot even Kodachrome. I haven't got my issue yet, but soon may have to frame it!!  Big thumbs up

I think Joe really deserve it but other photographers also get their name credited when shots published in the magazines.

BTW, if you got the Airliners Calandar 2003, hope you may notice me there.  Big grin

Joe - top knotch stuff as per usual!!

Ricky T - what's with the pessimistic approach on EVERYTHING?? Did a bug crawl up your ass? No need to be a tight-wad, just don't reply to the topic.

We all know where this topic is going, but for the record : the blue sky on that TAM A330 is superb Big grin

Well I know Joe will be on this thread sometime or another, so I'd like to ask a quick question, and any other "featured" photographers can chime in as well.

The question: where do the magazines/newspapers/press/etc. usually find your work? Do they find your pictures here on airliners.net and say hey, that's a great shot? Or do you have other places where you showcase your work?

Basically, how do you get recognized?!?

Thanks a lot!

Congrats Joe!

Ricky, why do you always have to make some smart reply to just about every post/thread? Come on get over it and slow down.

I agree with NikonF100 and Mirage. Although I've been a fan of Joe's work for years, it's pretty common to see his stuff published. Hell every time I get a AWST in the mail I just open it to count how many JP shots are in it that week (this weeks has two  Wink/being sarcastic). And he's even had stuff published in mainstream media. So why the fuss? There's no doubt that TAM shot is awesome, I like it a lot, but why single out JP? How about the dozens of other photographers -many a.net guys- who get their shots featured? I salute all of you who have gotten published.

Lets see......

AA777 is a member for 80 days here. That hardly gives him enough time to fully understand the number of people that have pictures published now does it?
He reads the magazine and notices a familiar name and thinks "wow that pretty cool" !

Not knowing it might offend anyone he posts a thread explaining his enthousiasm.

Then we get guys like Rickie Tee flaming the guy right away. Do we (I) need guys like that? No we (I) don't. At least Luis gave an explanation!

Wietse

Matthew, it is indeed pretty cool to see Joe in that magazine, but he allready had a lot of pics published there.

Well lets see again, shall we?  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

305 days membership + 851 posts (mainly in this forum)

vs.

80 days membership + 88 posts

I'd say I know a lot more about what's going on in the photographers world than AA777, so cut the guy some slack, ok? I'm not attacking you opinions, but you guys could be a bit more subtle next time....

There weren't any hard feelings in this or the other post, believe me!  Laugh out loud

Ok.. I am locking this thread now..

Many of you can see that I deleted some posts from here.. Some were not relevant to the discussion, some were just flamebait / harsh..

I personally see no problem with this kind of thread, congratulating ppl for getting their photos in a magazing or what not.. I know if I ever did, and someone noticed it, I'd be thrilled.. So if one of these comes up again, do not try to go down the "Oh who cares" road with it, if you don't like it, don't post in it..

Chris
