Hi,
As of tonight, a green line started appearing on all shots of mine that I scanned (unless they were sideways and rotated). My scanner is also starting to squeak as it moves back into its "resting position." Is it dead? The shot below is a sample (obviously, the line on the right is worse when the image is larger- I made it small/compressed for the sake of space).
Since I bought insurance with the scanner (nearly two years ago) I can take it back to Best Buy for store credit in the full purchase price. I will be in that neighborhood tomorrow, and there are rebates that end tomorrow (Saturday, 8/31)
Are any of these good scanners that I should look into, or should I see what the store has? I can't afford anything much over $100, so a true film scanner is out of the question (two of these have adapters- I am leaning towards the second one)

Oh... and is there a way that I might be able to fix it easily?

What kind of scanner are you using. Occasionally my HP S20 gets lines in the scan when scanning prints. Usually, If I re-calibrate the scanner, the line goes away. Somes that does not work, and then I clean it (blow out dust particals) and re-calibrate and then it works fine.

UMAX Astra 3400... I am going to BestBuy soon... so if something hits my eye as a really good deal, I will swap; if not, the scanner still does its thing, so I will keep it until a better scanner for me hits the market.
