Hi all!
After seeing a shot which was recently uploaded I would beg you "funny" guys to stop uloading crap shots, which really have no place up here. I am talking about for example:
Some trash put on a glass table with some model planes in between photographed with a crap camera or scanned with a crap scanner and marked as AIRPORT overview.
The Queue is long enough I think we dont need nonsense like this.

And its not only screeners time you are wasting its also the time of all the others waiting for their pictures to be processed.

Peter

Hi all

I am 100% behind Peter on his post.

While these images may be funny (to some) they have no place on the queue.
Spending time on screening a page of 50 images only to be confronted with rubbish like this is really annoying and make a mockery of Airliners.net

Please leave the queue to the photographers who enjoy their hobby and who love showing their pictures on Airliners.net

The screeners have enough on their plate so when there are complaints from photographers that the queue is large.......just remember about this post.

I see where you screeners are coming from..it's a waste of time uploading crap shots or shots which have no place here..i just fear this will fall on deaf ears as most people who will read this post are 'decent' people.

Maybe some kind of note on the upload page maybe???

I hope those idiots stop uploading such crap, the queue is already too long. Unfortunately I don't think they read the post in the forums though.

People who misbehave on the forums are punished, so shouldn't people who misbehave by putting crap in the queue face some consequences also. Just so they would stop doing this and delay the queue. perhaps a blacklist of some sort, or a temporary suspension from uploading? Don't know whether or not this is possible?

Just my 2 cents.

Can there be a note on the upload page, and if they persist, can any uploads being used with that IP address or email address etc etc, be banned from uploading further???

It's just a suggestion, but it may curb their efforts to ruin it for others.

Yeah its funny if you just say 'this got rejected' and host it yourself, but not just wasting everybodies time by doing this. Its very immature! I fully agree with you Peter  Smile.

I'd be in favor of banning people who do not upload "serious" airliner shots. The queue is long enough for people who make a serious attempt to photograph real planes.

Ok folks, I admit, it was me.

When I was like 7, I used some spare cardboard and created a small airport for my toy planes. I took a picture of it.

I came across it a few weeks ago and scanned it. I thought that as a goof, that I would submit it as an airport overview.

It was not meant to offend. I know the screeners work hard approving pictures, and I thoguht that if they saw my pic during their shift that they would get a litlte chuckle out of it during their work.

I am sorry if it bothered anyone THAT much. I won't do it again.

However, i think some of you need a sense of humor. A sense of humor is JUST THAT!! A SENSE! Turn ON the sense!

Again, I apologize, but really folks, lighten up, smile for once. It's JUST a website, and you folks shouldn't take it so seriously.

When I get a chance, I'll post the pic here for you folks to look at.

I think that you have quite a nerve telling the screeners to get a sense of humour. They face constant complaints from people on a variety of reasons including how long it takes to screen the pictures.

Why then would you think they'd find it in the least bit amusing when you upload a picture like that?

It may just be a website but it is a website where the screeners kindly give their own time to make it a better site. Also, you did start a thread a while ago on a jokey tone of 'Why was my pic rejected?' or something similar so why the need to be Jack the Lad again?Part of being a joker is to know WHEN to be the joker and when to be serious.

I agree with Donder. We all have a sence of humor but, although I like the lighter moments, I find this does not appeal to my sence of humor.

I remember a post made by Peter about the Q. He told us how many photos had been screened etc and other screeners say of how much time is spent on screening.

Now, this is all done for FREE. The screeners give their time and expertese to help this site, they don't have to time to waste on silly uploads. Jokes in the forums are different to uploading what you think is a funny picture.

I love a joke as much as the next man...believe me im a prankster in real life! But i find solice in my photography and this site is a haven where I can upload my work and view others.

Keep it that way and keep jokes in the forums...dont waste peoples time who are good poeple.

"Part of being a joker is to know WHEN to be the joker and when to be serious "

Could'nt agree more...

LGW

It's not that I don't appreciate the work they do. The people that get mad at them are even worse in the fact that they don't understnad the time these folks give to approve pictures.

Did I really delay the upload process of pictures by doing it? Maybe, but by what..... 10 seconds? GASP! It's really not that big of a deal.

Why take a website THAT seriously as to even waste time from your life to get mad at something like this? Do you get mad at Letterman or LEno every time they say a joke that's not funny?

Didn't like my joke? Ok, so don't laugh. I won't cry if you don't. Felt that the joke was applied in the wrong medium by goofing with the photo acceptance? Ok, that's even somewhat udnerstandable. But being offended by it? Then you have issues and need a life (which does not necessarily pertain to anyone who responded here, so don't feel I'm insulted anyone personally).

Yes Phil, it is a big deal. It might take 30 seconds to fully load the pic, depending on server load, by the time you check all the applicable check boxes, that takes 30 seconds. Now you've wasted one minute of my time that I could have had two decent pictures done.

Now, let's look at it for what you did to everyone else. Say the Q is 2500 photos and 2000 photogs, your spot was say #300, and 900. That's 1700 photgs BEHIND you, and 1600 photos BEHIND you that your "joke" delayed. Some of these people have been waiting for three weeks, and I don't think they'd be very pleased knowing that your "joke" delayed their processing.

You really need to THINK before you do/play jokes. You wouldn't go up to a black man and ask him what you throw to a drowning black man, now would you? You wouldn't go up to your neighbor's house and shove a couple toothpicks covered in lock-tite in the door, would you?

I understand both sides to story here! There's no sense in going at each others' jugulars.

Let's kiss and make up.

We all learned something today.

#1 Phil is a funny guy and cinematographer. He didn't mean harm and apologized. The screeners acknowledged.
#2 The screeners are funny guys too but on a schedule + the constant duress of photo uploads.

Hi all

As a fellow Screener, Chrisair sums it all up so nothing more to be said from me.

Legitimate aviation photographs for Airliners.net, other images can be uploaded to some Yahoo group or something like that.

As the point has been highlighted, please can Mirrodie or some other admin archive this thread.
