Hey all,

Someone contacted me through email, wanting to come to Schiphol. As everyone that has ever been here probably knows, getting around the airport isnt very easy. So I advised him to rent a bike somewhere.

The question is:

Does anyone know of bike-rentals at Schiphol?

Thanks,

Wietse

I would advise him to just steal one Smile

J/K, I can't remember any places at the airport itself, but perhaps he can take a bus into town, an go from there?

Or buy one from a junky at the red light.  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

I guess this was just the kind of advices you wanted.  Big grin

When in doubt, flat out!

likely. Most trainstations have a bicycle shop and many of those have rentals.
Hoofddorp should be no exception (though I haven't been to the station there in a long time).

Yeah I think his best bet is Hoofddorp, its not too far away so he can easily ride back, and there are busses to and from the town as well.

As far as I know there are no bike rental places at the airport itself.

Regards

Dan

I had the same thought last year when I had to rent a car just to go the 5km to the runway spots. Would be a great idea!

I have been looking for a bike rental place close to Schiphol without succes. The best bet is Amstelveen or Amsterdam City.

I agree with Marcel.
There's not bike-rental at Hoofddorp Station, and I've been checking in the city-centre, and no luck there. I would try Amstelveen.

If you are staying for more than one day, and there is nothing in Amstelveen would it be worth trying to get to Haarlem or Heemstede to get one? I'm pretty sure there are bike rental shops there.

Nah, haarlem is too far away, it would take half an hour to get there by bike from schiphol. I still think the best bet would be Amstelveen... (don't know if we have bike rentals here, but I would think so)

And if you are acquainted to someone called Wietse de Graaf, he'll lend you one...  Big thumbs up (I'll decide what acquainted is)

hi,

I just informed at the Tourist Information Board VVV in Aalsmeer. They could not give me any address of a bike rental in Aalsmeer.

regards,
Marcel
