hi all,
i'm thinking about going to LAX to shoot some photos there. does anyone know of people that could take me around on that airport or do you know great places outside of the fences ?
sadly, I do not have a zoom lense, I use a digital olympus c2500l. so pretty close places would be great. i'm seeking first of all the 747s ...

Luckily, there are many places around (and in) LAX that can get you close to the action. Since you don't have a zoom, your best bet would be at the NWA cargo building on the south side of the airport (along the fence). I've shot here with a 80mm lens, and I could get 747's at full frame as they flew by. BUT...the little DC9's and 737s were hard to get. If you want to get REALLY close, take a walk along Aviation Blvd or Sepulveda Blvd...planes fly literally right over your head before crossing the fence and touching down.
Inside...well, just walk around. My new digicam (Nikon CP880) has only a 95mm lens but that's not a problem from most terminals. You just gotta wait for things to push back / pull up to the gate. The international terminal is the best - though you can't get inside the gate area without a ticket, there are some really nice big windows overlooking the action in several lounges.

Thanks .. that should really help.
It's a real hassle that I can't put a zoom lens onto my olympus (although it's a really expensive one ... I hate those guys for not making it able to handle those lenses) ... but let's see if that works anyway ...
