I am planning to buy either the Nikkor AF-S 24-85mm f/3.5-4.5G IF-ED or the Nikkor AF 28-105mm f/3.5-4.5D IF. The 24-85mm has a Silent Wave Motor and according to my understanding better optics, but the 28-105mm a larger focal length at the tele end, which is more important to me. I am not planning to use the lens I buy for just aviation photography.
What do you think of these two and which one would you recommend me to buy?
Apart from either of these I'm planning to buy a Nikkor AF 50mm f/1.8D.

Yes, 24-85 AF-S is much more SMARTER!!!!!
Thinking of 105mm is not so this "long as 85mm.
but 24mm is definitely wider than 28mm.
my experience! You should have a 70-300/80-200 lens as well, right?
so 70/80 thru 105mm is overlap.

I would use this lens for other photography than aviation too, and don't want to carry an 80-200mm all the time when I only need like 100mm. I can't really imagine a situation where I'd need 24mm, but can certainly imagine situations where I would need 105mm.
