Calling all YVR spotters,

As many of you know or have seen already, the longshoreman's labour dispute in the States is causing a sharp increase in the appearance of Antonov Design Bureau's big beasts at YVR. The latest flight was chalk-a-block with crates of Timberland shoes. Many more flights will be coming in over the next couples of weeks so break out the long lenses.

And a further bonus: the Japanese Air Force will be bringing in the president in a week or so (02-1102) was here a few days ago on a test run for that visit. As others have pointed out, she is a spotless, shining paragon of a 747. I was lucky to snap her while she passed behind the Antonov (should be in the queue shortly).

Good luck to Mr. Rindt and all those Washingtonites who make their way north on ocassion.

Cheers

Deaner

Dean,

Nice shot. Did you happen to catch the tail reg?

Apparently there is an AN-124 at YYZ today. Another one is due to visit YHM on Tuesday night. (Reg. UR-82008)

Cheers, Dripstick

Thanks for correcting my html, Drip (you beat me to it), too bad you didn't catch the error in the Japan Air Force reg (heheh); it should be 20-1102.

The Antonov's reg was UR-82007, piloted by Ukrainians.

Grab some photos of the Antonov if it's in Toronto and we'll have a coast-to-coast album to put up in the dbase.

Just like all your other superb pictures, that is an awesome shot Mr, Allchin.

I wish my puny airport of YYC had some Antinovs..  Sad
There is a small correction with the Japanese registration I had to tell you as it is actually 20-1102. But i'm sure you already realize that from all the photos of it on the database.
This means that Both 747s that the JASDF has will be coming over to YVR direct from Haneda. (-1101/02)

Good luck. I hope to see some shots that you and Rob take next week. AVIS and RAMP closeups.  Smile
For my airport YYC: it has been nothing but tumbleweed traffic these days. Maybe a few Air Atlanta 747s, a VC-10 or two, C130 and some fighters plus those odd exotic Dash 8's.

Rest assured she was hammered by myself and Chris Weldy on Friday (11th) - Welder will have it up before me since I've got it on "Kodacrap"  Big grin

Moi aussi

But there were so many people working around the bloody thing, so I had to revert to my not-so-great tail shot (which I did not upload).

Look forward to your in-flight shots if you guys grabbed a couple.

I'll lurk over the next week or so and do some 3/4 shots from 30 feet away. If they crank up the lights, you can be sure I'll be taking some night shots.

Cheers

Two 124s parked at the north side as of ten minutes ago. I could see 'em quite nicely from the Arthur Lang Bridge.

Hope to goodness the de-icing bay is lit up tonight.

At the very least I'll try to capture them at sunset.
