 Smile Hi everyone!  Smile

I will be travelling to Manchester (MAN) tomorrow to do a bit of spotting.
Could you recommend any good spotting areas?
I've heard about the one on top of Terminal 3 car park, but are there any others?

Thanks for your help!

Ashley,

Do you want spotting or photography?

Official spot on top of T1 car park.

Viewing park (with bus service) will get you all movements in and out, plus good photography light in the afternoons. Weather forecast shows easterly winds, this spot (alongside 24R/06L) will give you takeoffs all day and landings between 12.00 and 15.00.

Walk past T3 to the Airport Hotel pub. Good approach shots with westerly winds,

But most planes are too high for Easterly takeoffs (forecast tomorrow).

I am assuming you are taking the direct train from Derby straight into the airport.

If you are travelling by car, it is possible to drive to the other side, 24/06R. Best early morning.

The weather forecast is sunny, but if it rains then you could go to the restaurant area inside T1 (landside) for great views of T1 & T3 apron.

Special visitors tomorrow,
KLM Fokker 50 ETA 09.55; ETD 02/11 @ 16.15 [KLM7871]
Spanair A-320 ETA 12.10; ETD 13.10 [JKK3103]
(source: TAS)

Regards,
Craig.

Well, Manchester sounds a little poor for viewing, so I went to Heathrow instead!!  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

It was fantastic! And the weather held up too!

Here are a few planes I saw:

{I definitely saw the Lufthansa 737 D-ABJE at LHR, but there are no photos on the database!  Wow! } (Maybe I got the registration wrong?)

All in all, a fantastic day!
And by the way, the model shop on top of the Queen's Building is GREAT!
