I stopped trying with the one for a few months, then I got a new scanner and tried again. I know that this has been tried a few times, but...
The plane itself is one of 7 in the fleet, and the color scheme/reg is original to the DB. The plane in the background is also original to the DB. I really thought the quality was rising with the new scan/new colors, but Johan rejected an appeal that the quality was still too low.
Do you have any suggestions of what I should do- some parts too grainy/others not sharp enough?

I don't think there is much that can be done to save this soul

Hi Jeremy,
Interesting shot. I'm sorry to say that the quality just doesn't look high enough. I would try resizing to 1024x7** or so though since it minimizes any inperfections.
Mind if I play around with it a little in Photoshop?

I'd have to agree with the screener's opinions on this one....quality just isn't there.
A resizing down a little bit might help but I would say it will still be iffy....

Hmmm... Now it looks oversharpened evidenced by the jaggies and distortion on sharp lines. I think its hopelesss because it appears as if the sun was high and somewhat behind the aircraft (high rear left), that is the worst type of sun angle for a scanned print in my experience (assuming this is a scanned print).
Keep trying and try and keep the sun behind you!
Serge

Serge- I will try reworking the original, untouched scan...
