Help Me With My New Scanner, Please!

I have just bought a new scanner, Hewlett Packard ScanJet 3400C. But I can get any good scans! What DPI should I use? 200, 300, 600, 1200?

Any help? Please I need some

Hi.
I still occasionally use my HP3300 for old prints if I have no negative.
There is no need to scan higher that 400DPI.
If your software offers a tickbox for a slower/quality scan, tick it.
Save the file as a .bmp file extension.
Work from there.
If it doesn't look good, move the print to another
part of the scanning glass and try again and compare them
on your monitor.
I find it can sometimes be inconsistent.
