Just got an email that says:

Hi, Justin

Noticed you had an ad posted for the sale of your Aircraft and wanted to tell you about a new classified ad service www.goallclassifieds.net thats 100% free. We are trying to get this new site off the ground and would love to have your Aircraft listed with us for sale. Click on: www.goallclassifieds.net and list your Aircraft; in the next few weeks we will be launching a large advertising campaign for this new site.

Goall
PO Box XXXXXX
Orlando, Florida 328XX
Email address

Now I don't own any a/c or have any for sale, and I'm wondering how they got my name and email (and knew I was into aviation). There was no link from a photo. I was wondering if anyone else got this 'spam' email. Thanks.

Rgds,
Justin

hmm, someone found a way to harvest email addresses off this site? Or is one of the admins/mods critically short on cash and decided to sell them?

It was sent through the email on which I was registered at the site. Not the email that comes with my pics here...

Since everyone else got this email, I'm wondering that too (not the admin selling email addresses). I have a hotmail and a yahoo email. I use my hotmail for all my airliners.net work etc, and I get TONS of junk mail. I have 250 blocked domains from spammers (im already at my max). Yahoo, I don't get ANY junk mail. I just find it weird (unless hotmail/msn sell my email). Also, I have my email blocked for people to find.

I certainly hope this person did not get our addresses from this site. I will be sorely disappointed.

I responded asking for the removal of my name from the list. We'll see.

JC, Hotmail is well known for being a spam haven.
Apparently it's either very easy to harvest addresses from it, or it's a happy target for mass emailing to random addresses.

I've heard people who got spammed at a Hotmail address that was only minutes old. That's not long enough for anyone to sell it...

I actually had a guy e-mail me through the system about a C180 I shot in Palmer, asking if I am selling it. I offered him a print, but he said -nope- need to take the family flying.

So thats my own experience with those e-mail's, but was a serious one - I guess.

Should Johan really sell our emailadresses, like Jeroen mentioned above?
