AIRLINERS.NET CREW HEAD SCREENER
Has anyone ever discussed or mentioned adding a note to screener column on
the upload page? There has been many times when I needed to explain
conditions surrounding a shot, or steps I took to correct unacceptable
conditions from a previously rejected one. What do you think of this idea?
Any input would be appreciated.

I think it is a great idea.
What I have done in the past is to use the remarks field normally used to describe the photo. I put "NOTE TO SCREENERS" in full capitals like this to grab their attention, and then my message to them. It does work, but I worry that the note might make it into the database if a screener doesn't remove it. I think a special field for notes would be most beneficial.

Great minds think alike. I was pondering about proposing this myself.

I do what Steve wrote above, Note to screeners: and yadda yadda..... works everytime, I have had an incident of the comment making it to the db once, thats the negative part of that. But for now we don't have an option untill Johan adds one.
One thing to consider is that the screeners will most likely get a lot of bashing throught the comments? Might be something to think about.
We might be able to use a registration for photographers, lets say a photographer has 20 + photos here, then he has access to the upload page with the Note To Screeners feature? Just an idea.....

Dmitry,
We get bashed thorugh the forums, in person, in the chat room and by e-mail. I'm sure more of the same crap through the comments field won't make a significant difference

I like the idea of being able to bash the screeners directly with your upload.
"Here is my crappy picture. It was taken in the rain snow and fog with a 1 MP high end digital and is of a really rare AA MD-80. I know it is rare cause I looked and there are only 423 other photos of it in the db. Upload it or I will hate you and whine about you you stinking rotten screener. You smell of elderberry wine! Thank you." !
On a serious note, I do think it would be a handy feature for more direct communication to the screeners. I suppose if the scripting was done right it would be a self deleting field that would not get uploaded with the photo.

I made the proposal in all sincerity, no joking. I see this a benefit to all and a way of improving communication between the photographers and screeners. Screeners, what do you think? Could this become a reality?

I had made such a proposal some time ago on the Site Forum - just search for it. not exactly a "note to screener" field but something similar to allow a screener to know if the photo he is screening has been seen already by another screener and rejected, and re-submitted.
I think Johan is tinkering with the idea of re-designing the upload page anyway due to it loading slowly and complaints already made, so maybe he'll include your idea or mine or combination in any new version of the photo upload section.

Jason you do have a point there! But there will always be Mr. Know-It-Alls, unfortunately!

Great idea. I just uploaded an airshow shot that might not get through due to "badpeople." (There ARE a lot of people in the background). The real significance of uploading the shot was to show what a 30-year old GAF slide looks like today. (just fine!). Anyway, I would have explained this if there was a box for screener note.

Surely it would be more useful than the 'respect rating'?I can't see people using it to piss off the screeners, merely to add comments such as 'I have resharpened this pic and have reuploaded it 'etc etc.

I think if we had to pick and choose from options to add to this site, either Respect Ratings of Note to Screener, I wouldn not choose Respect Rating.

Agreed, Bruce.
I really do not see the relevance of the respect rating. Frankly it serves no real function, its all about ego. I really believe that a 'note to screeners' box would be much more useful.

Colin you beautiful human being. I have 2 pounds sitting here on my desk just for you....I promise to, well, never mind. Last time I did that I got married!!
I know it sounds simple, but a "note to screener" box would be nice if just so I don't feel like I am yelling at the screeners when typing IN ALL CAPS IN THE COMMENTS SECTION.... (Yes, get rid of the silly respect ratio thing and put this in!)
