Hi Kevin, We really like your photo of the CRJ (inflight) (ID 3937) and would like to purchase a hi res image of it for some booth graphics we are working on. We will need it to be blown up to 30' from wing tip to tail at 125 dpi.
Please let me know at your earliest convenience if this image is available to us and the cost.

Thanks, Liz Danner

Kevin,

To confirm, we would like a hi res image of ID3937 30 inches from wingtip to tail at 125 DPI.

We are a small business and would expect to be charged for the usage. The photo will be used at a trade show on booth graphics that will fit into a stand. The image will be around 30 inches wide. We are not planning on reproducing it in any kind of printed material.

I hope this gives you the information we need. We await a cost estimate for usage.

Thanks

Liz

And here is the photo...

All the help I could get, thanks.

I would say 100-150 if you are just using photoshop to enlarge it.

150+cost if they want you to develop.

Reason? They are a small business and they originally offered to pay.

I'm not a pro though, just to let you know.

Kevin,

I don't think they want a poster. They are going to place it in a booth and they need a digital 125 dpi image for that.

I have done business with Liz Danner recently, and my experience with her and her company are very good; pleasant contact and they are reasonable, provided that you are reasonable too!

I'd start with USD 300,= and see where it gets you!. Good luck, if you haven't done the deal yet.

Hey Martin,

Yea, she said they perferrably need it today, so I assume its not a poster.

How am I suppose to get a30 inch wide photo of this? Rescan it at max DPI and resize it to 30 inches? How do I get the 125 DPI? Also, do I send the photo to her via on email or is there another option?

Thanks,

Kevin

Kevin,

A picture of 3750*2500 pixels @ 125 dpi gives a picture of 30*20in
If you can scan the picture at that size and resolution it's ok, or you can set it to these sizes in Photoshop afterwards.

Is your scanner capable of doing that? If not, you have to enlargen the picture which has a negative effect on the quality. To be honest, I'm not sure if that would still suit the needs of your customer. So check it out first before you sell it and work it out with them.

They seem to want their files as jpg's. If you save it at highest quality you have a file of +/- 2,5 mb and that should be no problem to send it via e-mail.

Martin,

I have a Minolta Dimage Scan Dual II slide scanner. I believe it is capable of doing that. One more thing. Do I scan the image at 125 DPI? Then resize it to 3750x 2500 or scan it at max DPI and resize it. I'm kinda confused on that.

Other then that, I am offering my pic $300 and I am willing to negotiate if it's a problem.

Thanks again.

Kevin

Wow, after typing a reply, Liz Danner sent me an email within 10 minutes Way to go!!

Martin, yes she requested in jpg format.

Hi,

We would prefer a .jpg via email as long as it is hi res enough....hopefully it will not be too large to send. By the way, we are mac based, just in case that makes a difference. The price of $300 total is okay with us. Perhaps you could send your invoice along with the image.

Thanks

Liz

So hopefully the scan will be high res and I'll be set.

Kevin

dude!!! That's great and all but you have to keep some of your cards hidden from view!!! If you say $300 but I'm willing to negotiate.... that means give me $150. If you say $300 that means give me $200-$250 after negotiations.  Smile

Yea Skyguy, reason being I wasn't sure and thought $300 would be alot. But im just quite happy her company accepted it for $300.

DC-10 Levo, yup, I've gotten several request by people but mainly they send me an emal and never respond back. But this is actually my first here in business. I'd like to thank you guys for helping me out. Now I will have to scan it and resize it to 30" wide and send it to her and pray that they will accept it. Oh yea, she really wants it in by today. And since I dont have paypal, I cannot get the payment in today. So I will have to trust her words that I will recieve a check in the mail. Thanks for the compliment on my photo.

Kevin

PS. Now I wonder how many emails I'll get once I start shooting with my D100.  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

Kevin, don't worry about getting it 30" wide.
It's the pixels that really count.

3750*2500 pixels @ 125 dpi gives a picture of 30*20in as Martin stated

Even if you end up with a 3750*2500 pixels at a default/screen 72dpi , the other end should be able to amend the 72dpi to 125dpi by simple manipulation.
If they can't, I'd be worried about that. By asking you to change the dpi to 125, you are doing part of their work.

Well done..

Gerry
