Hopefully some advance warning for those able to get to Heathrow this Friday.

*Allegedly* Friday 2nd February will see BMI launch their new livery at Heathrow with the Airbus we have all seen, plus one other aircraft.

What do you think the possibility will be that BMI will fly over their first A330 from Toulouse?

Maybe not to land but a nice flypast?

Well my man on the inside still insists it will be Thursday the 1st at 11am when cabin crew will open the envelopes they were handed a while ago and welcome passenger to "British Midland International"...and then offer champagne to passengers.

Gary...I don't think I can make LHR on the day... :-( as work is a bit pressing just now...but I will be at EMA at 11am on Thursday to see if the 737 in the hanger there makes an appearance...although my information is that it too will be at LHR initially...but I'm hoping one or other of them might visit EMA sometime that day...

I live in hope...

According to a good friend, quite senior within BM, the launch is like A380-200 says on Thursday 1st, not on Friday 2nd.

I was told by a usually fairly reliable source at East Mids this weekend that the 737-500 is not due out of paint until 8th February.

Further to previous regarding A380-200s post about the 737-500 being painted in BMI's livery at East Mids, it went flying yesterday in bare metal and was then put in the paint shop. I therefore think that there's no chance of it being out in the new colours out in time for the Thursday launch, and my source's Feb 8 looks much more realistic.

I don't know whether BMI is doing anything at East Mids anyway, as most of the senior staff will be at LHR (and in any case, with East Mids gradually moving towards being an all BM Commuter base, whether we see BMI there much at all must be subject to conjecture).

Yes, I have seen the pic and have to say it looks a lot better then the actual painted up A320!

Like the nice light blue and the Union Flag on the tail.

I had a look at the site this morning but not updated then.

The colours on the artist's impression look much better than those that were added to the A320. (the blue on the tail is the same now as that on the fuselage, isn't it?)

Does anyone think the A330 tests will envolve LHR?

Not likely is my information...given the lack of any free slots at Heathrow.

My insider (pretty accurate so far in bmi matters) tells me that BM usually take delivery of new aircraft and aircraft types at EMA where there are plenty of free slots (usually bad news for me as there is little traffic to shoot :-( but good news on this occasion Wink/being sarcastic

) and lots of staff on hand for proving flights.

So (fingers tightly crossed) I am hoping to see a bmi A330 at EMA before too long...please...!!!!

I caught G-MIDV on approach to LHR this morning it looks much better in the flesh! The pictures are in the queue to be uploaded.

Yep!

They'll be flying A330-200s between MAN & Washington from April and then MAN-Chicago too from May.

Their first A330 is going to be leased strait away (for one year) by SAS.
