Hello, just noticed that some photos I've send to the screeners get lost. How could this happen?

I'll upload them anyway  Wink/being sarcastic

OK, since this was brought up, I also got about 7-8 lost about 4-5 days ago. At first I thought I forgot to upload them - but then came to think I did upload some photos which dissapeared.

Anything screeners Johan?

nice to share our experience - I've uploaded mine, and they even were in the high quality queue, and suddenly disappeared  Wink/being sarcastic

A totally new thing on A.NET ....

But on Jetphotos.net, around 4000 (fourthousand!!!) photos get lost (read the article posted at the headlines) !!!

I've also lost about 20 shots.... Another damn server crash.

If this will happen more often, I'll not be able to úpload new photos, because I'm to busy with re-uploading my old ones...  Nuts

that's fascinating - yesterday I had 12 photos in the queue waiting to be screened. and as I checked today I've only got 11 in it. What's going on there???

Support Airliners.net - become a First Class Member!

Photos get lost because of the filenames. If you upload a picture named 6.jpg it gets added to the Q. Someone else uploads a picture with the same filename. The new addition overwrites the existing filename. Only one picture is in the Q because the filename is the unique key (maybe not the only one but one of the unique keys). Only one person gets the rejection message then. It will be a rejection for sure most of the time because the information and the photo doesnt match, the other person doesnt get an e-mail because the photo is really lost.
Solution?
Use better filenames. Original camerafilenames are no good idea to use because therer are so many digital uploaders thath theres a high chance for doubles. Also names like described above (1.jp, 2.jpg, ...) or just the registration (oe_lao.jpg or similar) are also canditates for getting "lost".
Hope this helps
Peter
