My good mate Dean was blessed with sunshine as the aircraft was rolled out. Nice one Dean
Look at the way the lines of the livery flow from the tail to the fuselage.
Makes all the 'Euro White' liveries look dull.
I am now looking forward to shooting the BMI fleet in the new colours. Only the ERJ145 operate into Aberdeen but I'll get my chance to shoot the other fleet members at EDI, GLA and LHR.
See you at LHR Dean........I bags first try of your new directors chair!!

What was wrong with new BD colours in the first place? I liked the new livery the moment I saw it. It's modern (colours and lower-case letters) - all reflect trends that have been probably imposed by... the WWW, yes websites. It all started from there, this lower-case syndrom. No-one seems to write in caps anymore.

Hi everyone,
Thanks for highlighting my shot Gary - you definitely get first go in the directors chair at Heathrow for this!!
I was very lucky today (Wed 7th Feb 2001) as I had no plans to go to EMA today fearing it (G-BVZH) would be hidden until tomorrow...which was when I understood it would be rolled out.
Even driving over there I was thinking to myself how unlikely it would be for it to be there waiting for me on such a lovely sunny day when all previous attemps (and there have been many of them!!) were met with closed hanger doors.
And yet there she was basking in the early morning sun.
Pity about the angle...full profile would have been nice...but the colours do show up well and I like 'em
Just by way of interest the shot was taken at about 09:45...the film was handed in for processing at 10:10...collected at 11:10...and the picture was on the Net by about 11:30...don't you just love modern technology.
Thanks again Gary...and I hope everyone else enjoys looking at the new colours as much as I do.

Hi Englandair,
My info is (from a BM insider) that the much loathed Saabs (and they are VERY noisy to fly in...I know!) are going to be disposed off and the Fokkers and ERJs will all be used for what is now BM Commuter, to be renamed BM Regional...so it is quite probable they will retain the old BM colours.

Hello again everyone,
Just to add a little fuel to the print versus slide debate...
I use both print and slide film...and although I would concede that slides are capable of better results (and I do actually prefer slides)...this was actually shot on Kodak 100 Royal Gold...and scanned from the print...because there was no way I could go from shoot to upload in just over two hours using slides!

Well I gave the new livery a good kicking as well but I have to say I think it actually looks good in the flesh (or metal)
Hope they replace the rather bland Star Alliance liveries on the A320s with it and cant wait to see the A330s (please Sir Michael, operate skeds from Edinburgh to North America with them)

For me, perhaps the bad quality and weather on the first new BMI livery picture I saw, made it look bad at first. But these pictures have certainly made me change my mind.
A great livery, some great pictures and some great photographers.

About two hours ago I took some shots of A320 G-MIDY (I think) in the new colours approaching Edinburgh. Had to do a go around because of an EMB on the runway which gave us all a good look at the overall colour scheme.
