I Have A New Olympus C720: Need Format Advice!

I received a new Olympus C720 last week, but it has been too cloudy to shoot airliners  Angry

I noticed that the camera's default is "HQ" format, and no matter how I change the setting, whenever I turn it off and turn it back on, it goes back to "HQ." Is there any way to change the default setting?

What format is best for Airliners.net: Super HQ or TIF? I know TIF has no compression, but the files are much larger, and I can only fit 14 on a 128MB card.

Check the menu settings section in the manual. It describes how to turn off resetting the camera on power off.

Thanks; found in on Page 87 of the 'detailed manual,' which I had to print off the CD.

Do you recommend SHQ or TIF mode for Airliners.net?

Shoot in SHQ. There's little to no difference between TIFF and SHQ, only with SHQ you get hell of a lot more shots and much more chances to get accepted! I have C-700 2mp, and I just got some shots accepted here today!

I usually shoot in SHQ also and manually set the WB.

Happy shooting, but beware the C720 isn't very good in low-light conditions.

I shoot the C720, Always use SHQ. I set 'My Mode' so when I switch it on, all my preferences are saved and all I have to do is zoom and shoot, and it knows whats I like, very handy camera. Search for my shots...
