When I uploaded it, the comment was : "Parked at the north apron, note that the Captain looks a lot like René Angélil."
When it was added to the database, it was purely and sipmly disposed of !
Did this ever happen to anyone else ?
and by the way - yes, the captain REALLY looks like René Angélil

I don't know who Rene is, so I don't know whether this would be complimentary or otherwise. Regardless, it does not seem appropriate to make personal comments - perhaps that captain would find this offensive, or result him in being the subject of jokes from his co-workers.
We must keep in mind the very wide viewer base of A.net - what seems amusing to you may not work for others. In general I think personal opinions should be avoided, though there will always be exceptions.
Remember, your remarks will be read by thousands - think it through before making them.

Maybe the screener judged that your comment is more to increase the number of views than anything else. Whilst your comment in itself isn't bad there are loads on the net that are similar or that often tell the viewer to look at something that doesn't exist. It's kinda funny I was talking with a screener about the same subject on Friday about how some comments had become kind of far fetched (i.e. first picture of this plane taxiing towards runway 26 in Gatwick from this spot), I think there is a limit to what one should write as if everyone writes stuff like that the comments will soon be ignored by many...

Well for those who care, René Angélil is the husband of Canadian singer Celine Dion. But unless the captain actually IS René Angélil, then it has no basis in being in the caption information. The photo caption and remarks should (IMHO) state facts only. Supposition and speculation belong in rags like the National Enquirer or Daily News.

I completely agree. It seems that instead of trying to get a different shot or waiting for a different aircraft, some pretend to be original on the comments...

Yes we do edit the comments occasionally, if a remark is made that is obviously a hit generator but without real cause. By personal favorite is a guy who claimed that there was a gorgeous girl in a bikini in the picture. Liking girls in bikinis, I looked very hard for her, but no dice, so out it went.

I realized on some occasions, that a screener changed my comment, but ussually just for spelling .... , as I am not native english, I find it very helpful and nice from the screener to "correct" my comment
