Last month, I was told by 707cmf that an a.net photographer meeting was going to be held at LHR for the weekend of July 12th/13th. So I broke my piggy bank, phoned up old realtives and searched through my girlfriend's purse in order to find the necessary funds for a DUB->LHR return ticket. However, after seeing him at LBG for the airshow, I was told that 'not so many people could turn up after all'.
So did I give up a GP weekend and spend all my drinking money for nothing ? what will really happen at LHR ? my only consolation is that 707cmf, being in the 26-35 age group, paid at least twice more for his ticket than I did

Hi guys,
I just booked my flight and hotel at LHR. I will arrive on Saturday July 12 at 17:00h and depart on Sunday July 13 at 17:55h. I will stay at the Renissance hotel. Other a.net members who will be there are Alex (Ndebele), Frederic (Sabena 690) and several other spotters from Belgium.

Guess I'm one of the 'other spotters from Belgium' Turbotrent will be there as well.
At LHR, I only care for one thing: to get the Concorde into my viewfinder as many times as possible*. I don't care how many miles I'll have to walk/crawl/whatever...
Hope to see all of you then!
Ivan

Patrick, I'm really looking forward to meet you in LHR, after al the good things Frederic and Ivan have told me about you
Ivan, I think we're gonna have a great time in LHR (and of course in all the other airports) and I'm sure that you will get enough opportunities to catch the Concorde
Have you already bought your datatank?
Best regards,
Tom

Tom, I am also looking forward to meet you, unfortunately we didn`t see each other when I was at BRU for spotting last year. Of course I am also looking forward to meet all the other guys, seems that this meeting will become quite big.

I have an a.net t-shirt but I think that I will wear a nice Boss or Joop outfit, than I can use the Business Class express line at the security checkpoint at DUS without the question from the screener: "Can I see your boarding pass? What you are flying in Economy? You are not allowed to use the express line!"

Wow, 10 persons already. I suggest we make some reservations for a nice restaurant somewhere around LHR for a large table somewhere between 5h30 PM and 8h00 PM local time. I'm pretty much convinced we won't miss that much aircraft traffic at that time anyway

woh woh woh, I'm all for that, but make it not before 6h30 PM, as my plane is not supposed to land before 5h55 PM
And.. anyone knows a good and cheap hotel at LHR ? I have the idea that the Rennaissance will not be that cheap (and I'll keep asking until I get an answer)
Antoine, d-10 for the meeting, d-14 for the PPL-written (I know, bad timing)

Antoine: best (but expensive!) is the Renaissance Hotel. Try expedia in France (probably www.expedia.fr ?) for rates, otherwise go to http://www.accorhotels.com and select the Ibis Heathrow Hotel (I believe the code is 0794). They ask 49.95£ for a double room...

I'll have to see that with UTAflyinghlow, because we shall most probably share the room (not the bed ! I'm a pilot, not a steward ), but although the price is okay by me, it will probably be too much for him (we've nicknamed him Uncle Scrooge McDuck / (Onc'Picsou for the French speakers)).
Any perks making it worth taking that hotel ? (like right under the glide path)

hey 707cmf, if it's 50 each Uncle Scrooge says fughetaboudit, but if it's 25 each (50 for the whole room) that's exactly what I stole from my GF's housekkeping money this month. I'll go see the Akkor website (they give me more miles when I use my AF/Amex card, did u know ?
Anyway, I can take the First Class counter with an a.net shirt on and a PSG hat worn backwards, that's what SkyTeam Elite status can do for you
