Well, I had quite a day today.

I woke up fairly late and gave Mr. Art Brett a call, who was already at JFK. I got him to come to LGA and meet me, and we headed over to Planeview Park, next to the College of Aeronautics, which is the best place to watch the day's runway usage of landing AND departing on Runway 22.

We saw an Air Canada Tango, which I haven't seen since Spring of 2002, and didn't even knwo was still coming into LGA, as well as an ATA 757-300, which was equally cool as I also haven't seen that since Spring of '02, and had no clue that they had returned.

Art Brett allowed me to snap a few with his Nikon 100 of an American 757 and a Delta 767-400, which departed very late due to gate holds and delays from the usage of only one runway.

We then headed over to JFK to the Boston Market on Rockaway Blvd to watch 31R departures. We saw 747s of United, Virgin Atlantic (Ladybird), Ploar Air Crago, Air France, British Airways, Air India (a beautiful plane), and the Singapore Air "Mega Ark" WHICH ART MISSED as we watched it glide in form the car.

We also caught th MD-11s of FedEx, KLM, FinnAir, two Aer Lingus A330s, and a Lufthansa one as well. Royal Jordanian A340 and Alitialia 777.

I missed the Campion Air 727 while I was urinating in the restroom. Upsetting to say the least.

We also went to another spot and saw some great crowwswind landings on 13L arrivals. Really something.

It was a wondeful day. I got GREAT video and that "Dare Devil sunburn where around my eyes and my lower face are white, and my upper face is beat red like DD's mask.

It was an honor to meet Art Brett and to take a few shots with his camera. I hope everything came out well on his end. It was a day of spotting I won't soon forget.

Thanks a lot Art and Anne!!!  Smile

I'll upload frames form video soon, and hopefully Art will have pics to show you too soon.

-Phil

Nice report on a perfect day, weather speaking. I wish I could have gone up this morning.

Was JFK using 31R for takeoffs? I thought it was usuallyl 31L and 31R was used for landings. Just curious, it was that way when I was there to see the Concordes.

I was waiting for a day like this to come for years. Finally LGA was using 22 to depart and I had to fly!  Big thumbs up Did you get any good pictures of 22 departures? Will you be posting them?  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

Phil must have been excited ... he mixed it up. We left LGA and headed over to JFK, stopped for a bite and headed over to 22L for arrivals, which promptly ceased as soon as we got there. We then headed back over to the Boston Market and took 31R arrivals until they switched again forcing us to head for 13L arrivals and, unfortunately, missing the inbound BA Concorde. Rotten luck. The pictures look good so far. I've just begun to convert to high-quality jpegs and make the CD backup. No post processing yet. Worried that some heat haze might have killed a few of the 22 departures at LGA. Oh, we also saw a NW 747 land at JFK which I haven't seen to often and a UA 747 which I haven't seen in about a year or two. The last one I remember seeing was Hong Kong in Nov. 2001.

Good day spotting and nice also to meet Phil. It's nice to see someone with so much enthusiasm for the sport.

USAF, Tom Turner and I were once surrounded by 6 cop cars at the very same spot. Shockingly, no one bothered us today. I think it's getting less tense in NYC.

AA61hvy, I dont know what you mena by dedicating it to me, but that still soudns, good, thanks bro!  Smile lol
