Hope you guys can help. I have booked a flight for 2 ads & 3 kids on UA from LHR to MCO via IAD 921/1565 outbound & 1558/922 inbound in Mar/Apr 2007. I have seen on UAvacations an option to upgrade to E+ for £65 per person translatlantic each way and £20 per person each way on the internal flight. My questions are:
Is the upgrade worth this money £850 total round trip?
Is E+ anything like WT+ (i thought this looked imnpressive as we made our way to the back of the plane when we flew to MIA earlier this year)?
I am really excited about the daytime flight on the return, this will be my first daytime eastbound over the pond, after many years of the red eyes (i hate that early am arrival).
What is it like to transfer in IAD between flights especially from international to domestic & vice versa?

On the domestic flights, save the £200 and just stick with regular economy. IAD-MCO is a 2 hour flight, so the extra legroom isn't really necessary. That £200 can be much better spent on a couople of good meals down in Florida.
As for the trans-Atlantics, depends on how much £650 is worth to you. For myself, I would probably spend £130 to get access to it if I wasn't allowed to standby for it as a *Silver (is that the current policy? I hate the new change as a US elite, but that's another thread). For kids, they won't really appreciate the extra legroom, but the adults probably would.
As for IAD connections, you'll be using C/D concourses. Don't know about int'l to domestic, but there is a Customs checkpoint available to UA passengers in the basement of C, but I've heard it gets congested easily. For MCO-IAD-LHR, it's as straight-forward as it gets - get off the Theodore flight, walk through the concourse to the LHR gate - no getting on the mobile buses, etc. To say IAD is lacking in aesthetic quality is a very generous statement (out of UA's hubs, it is by far the worst in my opinion), but it gets the job done, especially if it's mainline-mainline - everything is in the same building.
E+ is the same economy seat with 35-36" seat pitch instead of the usual 31" pitch. It's not a wider seat, and doesn't have upgraded meals or other amenities of any kind. I'd say it would be worthwhile for the Atlantic crossing at the price quoted, at least for the adults.
