As I have not seen to many up close or from the inside but I am just blown away by the AN124

Why aren't russian airliners not popular in the west. Russian are know for their aerodynamic designs, but from what I heard, their engines are not quite a match for western ones. Russia seems to be missing the boat in the aircraft industry business despite all its potential.
