Virgin Atlantic To Cape Town, What To Expect?

I've been invited to a wedding in Cape Town this winter. Last (and only) time I was there I flew with LH via FRA and was therefore happy when I found a good deal on another carrier, VS (BA and SK from/to ARN), even though it's going to be an A343 this time as well.

So, what can I expect from VS? Since I'm flying in economy I know the service does not differ that much between different airlines. This will be my first flight with PTV's, so that's at least something to look forward to. Do they have "Movie on demand"?
LH served two hot meals (dinner and breakfast) and free drinks. I guess it's the same with VS.

So, all of you who have experiences of VS, please share  Smile

According to Seatguru.com, none of the VS A343s have V:Port (Virgin's On Demand IFE). Now if you get a A346, then you will get the 32" Seat Pitch in Y, the 9" Screens in Y, and the V:Port system that has over 300 hrs of on-demand entertainment.
Haven't personally experienced them, but have been doing a lot of research and reading since I'll be travelling on VS in december. You might want to check out: www.v-flyer.com. In the forums section, they have a lot of trip reports (exclusively on VS) and I'm sure you will find a trip report involving your routing.
Good Luck and have a good trip  Smile

i think the "period" i put after the link is messing things up. But that's the website.

Check that to see which of VS's planes have what type of IFE.
Hope this helps...

If its an A342, then you will experience the Odyssey system.
Its basic system, with abou 20 channels of prgramming and some games thrown in on top of that.
I had the Odyssey system in February on an LGW 744, heres the photos i took of the system.

Meals, I have always enjoyed with VS and although have no experience with this route, i guess its a 2 meal route.
Free drinks and alcohol all around.

Enjoy your trip, and write us a report!

kev.

I can't comment on VS but let me tell you that you will have a fantastic time in CPT. Cape Town, without a doubt, is one of the most beautiful cities in the world...

I concur. A trip report would be really nice for this route...  Smile

Thanks for all your replies. I'm almost sure it will be an A343. Too bad they don't have on demand IFE.

The Cape town route is scheduled to be on an A340-600, according to the internal website. So you will experience the wonders of the v:port system after all, if the schedule stays as it is now.
