I do not like this airline. I don't even know why were they invited to the OneWorld alliance. Please comment on you own (bad) experiences.

I think this may well belong in Polls and Preferences.

I've only really had one, on the A.net MAD-LPA flight with an IB A343, the legroom was incredibly dire, I will therefore never fly IB longhaul, unless I'm sat in Biz class. I wasn't bothered about there not being much service, boot as I'm about 6ft the seat space is very important, along with general seat comfort which was also not great.

I have flown 'Iberia' about 20 times this year, I put that in inverted comers because only once have I been on IB metals, the rest of the time I've booked a cheap IB ticket but made sure that I get on either an Air Nostrum or British Airways operated flight.

Flew them from Seville to London Heathrow. Aircraft was an MD87 that was in horrible shape. My seat cushion was barely attached to the chair frame. In general, the aircraft looked like it hadn't been touched by a maintenence or cleaning crew for quite some time. Then, we finally get to LHR. Guess what? The front door of the plane won't work, and we are forced to deplane out the back. I'll take Vueling, or even Spanair, any day over Iberia.

Well, if you live in Spain and have flown sometimes in your life is almost IMPOSSIBLE not to have a bunch of bad experiences with Iberia. I wouldn't mind if they go bankrupt (but first, please, Alitalia and Olympic should dissapear, in the self-interest of Italy and Greece and the european taxpayer)

Yes, I'm Spanish and yes, I always had a bad experience when I must to take the Puente Aereo. Many people taking it and I always watching the hour and tell to myself (another chance take an Spanair flight...)

Then, you are totally careless about the financial situation of hundreds or thousands of employees of these airlines.

My only expierience with them was a bad one. It was MAD-BCN on an A321. the F/A's were very rude and unpleasent. the plane was nice though. On the way back I got on Air Nostrum and the expierience was much better but the plane was a terrible CRJ.

Hola!

I have flown IB many times, being a Spanish resident is quite easy and inexpensive for what you get.

Across Europe I'd say their product is not bad at least cleanliness, comfort and seat pitch is quite decent. Regarding food in C class I think is quite better than LH, AZ or even BA. At least in Business you always get the middle seat empty, which is not the case of cramped LH old layers.

Transatlantic flights is something else. Although Business Plus is a very good product; I've flown them to EZE several times; I'd say FA seem to be not the most cheerful people on Earth but they behaved quite professionally on all my flights.

The worst seems to be ground staff, especially when it gets to delays and giving out information. It looks as if they are doing you a favor... Let it alone their phone service, Serviberia, which is very unprofessional and I am not really sure if they have the least idea of their job. I was recently re booked from a a TXL-MAD-ORD-SEA to a TXL-MAD-JFK-EWR-SEA (on CO) instead of a Oneworld flight with AA departing from JFK boggled . I had to go to their office in BCN and have it rescheduled, without any problem and many smiles, on the AA flight.

I'm sorry for them but I think I'd move to the Star Alliance (more service) or Skyteam (most times cheaper)  shhh

All the best,

Rogerbcn

My Iberia experiences have almost all been great. The only bad experience was a 6 hour delay on our MAD-JFK flight on a 747-200.
There had been a minor repair on the #2 engine before we were boarded. Then once we were boarded after a 4 hour wait, the ice on the plane had been melted. So there was another 2 hour wait for more ice to be delivered.
It didn't bother me because I like to have my cocktails on a longhaul flight.

I've flown Iberia
New York - Malaga
Malaga - Valencia
Valencia - Palma de Mallorca
Palma de Mallorca - Madrid
Madrid - New York

Overall, I like Iberia and they have one of the best looking liveries in the skies today. I hope they never change!

Hi TACAA320!

When referring to food I was simply expressing my personal opinion for the one I have eaten on board which really fulfills my expectations as long as my taste is cocerned. Quantities have been always adequate in intra-European flights, as well as when I have asked for seconds: I have always got them without problem.

¡Hasta pronto!

I have flown Iberia many many times, yet only on domestic flights within Spain and around Europe, and to be honest I've always found them to be fine, nothing great, but nothing bad.

I have however heard that longhaul is another story.

Not again please! Another thread to say how bad IB is, why it should be kicked out of oneworld, how bad the seats are...This is now boring...A while ago there was another thread with the same critics...
As for bad experiences I've never had one with IB: sometimes good, sometimes not that good but never the had those awful flights that everyone talks about...And trust me I fly IB a lot..
bye! rmcf

My only experience with IB was on a flight GRU-MAD-FCO and return.
The transatlantic flight was the worst International I've ever caught!
That A343 was very dirty, the seat and pitch were horrible, the F/A's were rude - and most of them did not speak a word of Portuguese (I'm sorry, but if you're going to fly to a country with a different language from yours, please, put at least 2/5 of the crew who can speak the foreign language). And they had a horrible English. The F/A who served me dinner, couldn't explain to me that "pollo" was chicken (not in English, nor Portuguese, just Spanish aboard the plane).
It was horrible and I'll never take IB again to go to Europe!

On the other hand, the flight MAD-FCO was very pleasant with good service and basically the same comfort of the A340 (on a 757)!

Oh Iberia is fine.. I like them, they are familiar and nice. One of my favorite airlines. They are a professional airline and offer good enough service.

I've never been disappointed with them, but I know what to expect. Nothing great but never bad.

Effectively. Very different from Spanish and English.
I travel a lot IB and, with all due respect, I simply doubt that an IB's FA can't say that in English.

I´m sure the lady could speak English, but due to any reason she kept saying "pollo"...
I had the impression that she just wanted to leave the dinner in my tray table and get away the fastest possible... Who knows...

And they had a horrible English.

Maybe it is a hit and miss with crews. I'm studying Spanish and I try to practice the little I know by working the IB flight in T3.

Sometimes I hope the crews don't start going all Spanish since I don't speak much. But Before I open my mouth they say hello, You need my bag unlocked, and other things just fine. Then there are some who just slides me their bag cause they can't speak English. I say "Esta abierta su maleta" and they say "si" then start talking at the speed of light. Im going to Madrid to a Spanish School to clean up my Spanish since Im learning it on my own.

But after reading this, BA is the front runner for my first TransAtlantic lol.

First, may I stress that this was a bad experience on Iberia - but not their fault.

My wife and I were scheduled to fly from Barcelona to Heathrow. She is a nervous flyer and the night prior to the flight she had a bad dream that the plane had been hijacked and was flown in to the Houses Of Parliament and Big Ben in London.

As we waited in the departure lounge at Barcelona, she picked out what she thought was a terrorist - and I have to admit he looked dodgy.

We had preallocated seating and had a middle and an aisle seat (Airbus A320).

We were one of the last to board and found that our seats were next to this "terrorist" who had the window seat. My wife was histerical. So much in fact that she was making me nervous.

Throughout the flight he kept looking at his watch every few minutes as if he was expecting something or waiting for a specific time.

As we flew ove the English Channel and started our descent he got up and got his ricksack out of the overhead bin.

After much rummaging he got a small silver container out.

By this point I was getting worried.

As it turned out he got some chewing gum out and then put his rucksack back.

It was a scary flight - but no fault of Iberia's. This was my one and only time but I can't say I have any complaints againt them.
