I will be flying ABQ-IAH-SDF-MSP-ABQ in January.(the ABQ-IAH-SDF is on CO and I already know what to expect there as I flew them last summer form PHL-IAH-ABQ-EWR-PHL and in 2003 on PHL-CLE-PHL.) I have not flown NW since December 2001(PHL-DTW DC-9/A320). On SDF-MSP I will be on a DC-9 and the MSP-ABQ will be an A319. What to expect such as crew, Service, comfort ECT(How About Ground service in MSP.)

MSP is one of the nicest, cleanest, and most functional airports in the entire US. There is decent shopping and eating there, and the quality of service from NW in MSP is pretty good (it's their home hub, so they are more than present). The DC-9 leg of your trip is ... on one of NW's old DC-9's. I hope you are seated towards the front of the cabin, the back is loud. The DC-9's have minimal leg room, but the seats are decent, and the cabins were updated to resemble those in the 717 not too many years back. The A319 is comfortable, quiet, and are all in very good shape.
Cabin service is less than overwhelming.... no IFE of any sort. You'll get drinks, food costs extra. The FA's are hit or miss, when they are good, the service is very good, but they have some unpleasant flight crews floating around.
NW service isn't up to par with CO, but it's not bad either. Minimalist, but functional. It shouldn't be a bad trip. I'm sad to say, the quality of experience on NW is not what it was in 2001, but they seem to be improving. Post a trip report and let me know what you think of NW.

Im actully using my buddys Elite status with NW for this trip and in Exchange im giving him some of my AA or US(which ever he perfers) miles to use in the future. But back in 2001 on the PHL-DTW-PHL on the A320 and DC-9 I got a full meal on the a320 and a cold snack on the DC-9.

Meals were cut in 2003. The industry downturn got rid of those. Now you will get soda for free... snacks are $2. However, in first class they still do serve good sized meals and other things.

I fly NW all the time and I found that most of their staff (like most businesses) are very friendly if you are nice in return. I have never had a bad NW experience. Sure I have had delays and even a cancellation or two, but they always took care of everything. I was nice and they were nice back.
You are not to get a bunch of stuff for free, but that is just the way things are in the US now.
