Simple preference. Some airlines prefer P&W or RR when they have the option.
Commonality. While the engines and their parts may not be interchangeable, chances are it's easier for the mechanics to be trained within the same manufacturer due to a common design philosophy, if nothing else.
Performance. But not the way you might think. Sometimes, you don't need the most powerful engine out there, so a less-powerful engine might offer greater fuel economy or longer maintenance intervals that make it a better fit.
