I'm flying Iberia on December 18th from JFK-MAD-SVQ. What may I expect? I know I'm on an A340-300 in coach. How's the food, crew, booze, seat comfort? Any info would be wonderful! Thanks!!

I have never been on there 340-300 but several times on the -600, and overall I think IB is pretty good, although you might run into some rude F/A's. To be honest, the last couple of times I have no complaints towards IB or its staff as everything was perfect. Food and drinks are free, but the seat comfort is not the best, unless you are sitting in the emergency exit row (on the 340-600 the first eco row is row 10). All in all, IB is ok, could be better but coud be much worse, and IMO their customer service has improved in the last few years.

That's pretty much Iberia on long haul nowadays.
I'd just add that there are no PTVs in economy and that in the MAD-SVQ leg you will have to pay for the food.
Make sure to order wine, they usually have a very nice selection even on economy.

They are an awful airline in Economy, and cabin comfort on the 340-300 is a joke. Their food is bland and tasteless, the F/A's are disgraceful rude and sullen, the airline is a sham. God knows how they are still allowed to be in an alliance with real, quality airlines like CX, BA, Qantas and JAL.

I must agree I have flown with them several times ( mad-uio-gye more than 7 times) , and it never was a good service or at least friendliness crew.
On this flights I´ve just had one time a "good" food but the coffee is always bad.

Flew Iberia from MAD-EZE last Xmas 340-300 out and 340-600 back.
In economy I found it okay despite being forewarned otherwise.Nowadays if you get free grub and drink in economy your on a winner straight away.My wife and I enjoyed having the 2 seats together over the wing and not having the hassle of having a stranger trying to get out or in.
We found the food and service no worse or better than Air France or BA on previous trips to Ezeiza.

I have never flown them on longhaul, but from what I saw on my shorthaul flights with them I must admit crew friendliness is not their strongest point...
At the bus station, buses stop. At the train station, trains stop. At my desk, I have a work station.

Well my trip to LIM via KL cost just the same as IB but the service was much much better in KL.
Just read this report and you'll see its noit like in IB(where the crew only appears to give the meal, dut free and refreshing snack before landing) http://www1.airliners.net/discussions/trip_reports/read.main/88350/

Shame on them. All Big european airlines have them on their most modern aircraft. Pisses me off there is no airline with PTV's flying to Costa Rica

Not true at all. I had an exellent paella last year when I flew them for MAD to SJO. And their coffee must be with TACA's one of the best on an airline

I thought LH had no ptv's either? In any case, IB's big advantage is usually the price. Their service might be so and so, but they have a pretty modern long haul fleet and offer better prices.

no they don't but will have them on their A380. Thus IB will remain as the only big airline without PTV's
cheers

Thanks everyone!!! I leave tomorrow to MAD via JFK. How about upgrades? Do they give comp upgrades to industry employees? I'm a Flight Attendant. If not, I'll flash my Air Force ID (Air Force deployment trip) and see if that helps? Don't know if Spain likes the U.S.?!?!?! Anyway, I'll make the best of it.

That can be very badly seen. If I am working for a non US carrier and someone snaps out his AirForce ID I'll tell them them they can put up their arrogance where I think !
