Hello,
I'm looking to fly from the Bay Area to Seattle and back. I normally stay with United but it's last minute travel. United is about $500 r/t and AS is farrrrr cheaper. What is the service like and what are the seats like?

What kind of plane are you flying? that will help as far as seats.
They dont have IFE, and you can expect two rounds of drinks and a few packs of peanuts or snack mix. unless your flight is early, then you may get breakfast. Im not sure if a bay area-SEA is long enough to have a meal.
Planes are clean (not all the MD's) seats are comfortable, nice crews and agents. AS is a great airline.

If from Sfo it will be a 737 400,700,800 or 900.It depends on what time of the day.All of the 737 have leather seats but the newer a/c's have a newer style seat and some with headrest's.But all comfortable.Enjoy.

I flew AS from LAX to Loreto, Baja California last summer on one of their 737s. It was comfortable and clean and the crew friendly. I flew them often a number of year ago from OAK to PDX on a regular basis...always great service.

From my experience with AS, they've always been second to none.
I have never had any trip with them that has left me
with anything bad to say! I'm sure you'll have a wondefull flight.

Well.....
My health situation has caused me to only stay for one day up in Seattle but I'm booked on the 920am flight from Oakland to Seattle, returning on the 620pm flight to Oakland. I'm in first both ways. OAK-SEA is a 737 and SEA-OAK is a 734. What service will I expect?

well the 737's are great, and first is awesome. you still wont have IFE but i believe you should get somekind of breakfast or fruit plate on the way up and a snack-ish meal on the way down, possibly a sandwich. I am not 100% certain, i dont fly to the bay area very often.
you will get a few more rounds of drinks and more peanuts or snack mixes if you ask.

I would say go for it!
If we ever fly around the USA we ALWAYS fly with AS, unless they don't fly that route.
Sorry I am cut for time so I can't post the links but I have written some reports about AS services.
You will get leather seats, very nice F/A's (personally I think the best in the nation overall) you will get free drinks and peanuts, unlike other sirline where you have to pay for the peanuts and then for $5, if you have a meal time flight, you can get a "Northern Bite." I have never had them, but I have heard that they are well worth the $5.
they have pillows and blankets, On that route you don't have DigEplayers, but you can get a 25% discount on InMotion dvds/dvd players rentals by fling with AS if you booked them online. At least I know you use to be able to get the discount.
You acn upgrade for anywhere from $50-$150 depending on the flight length or use 10,000 miles(although its better to pay because 10,000 miles is worth $250). If you upgrade to first you get the extra seat width, extra legroom, better service, free food-thats not to bad, free movies if its a route that serves DigEplayers, use of lounge before departure, early boarding/seprate line to board the aircraft, seprate check-in line etc...
Enjoy your travels with Alaska Airlines, providing 75 years of travel enjoyment!
~Cheers-

AS is great. I flew SEA-SAN r/t and PDX-LAX r/t. Both flights were great. Comfortable seats, great F/A's, clean planes, good snacks, even got a meal PDX-LAX only! It was great! I'd recommend them to anybody!!!

I've flown SEA-Bay Area in F before. Don't expect much - it's a pretty short flight (around 90 minutes or so). Generally in the morning there is some sort of a fruit plate, and in the evening there is usually a light appetizer (such as crackers and dip or something similar). Expect a bigger seat and a little more legroom, free booze, and a very small snack.
Overall, not the best F in the USA, but will meet your needs for a relatively short flight. AS seems to have improved this year, and with the 737 (as opposed to the M80), hopefully you won't get stuck with delays.

Hello all,
Thank you for the great input. I got back in about 3 hours ago.
Flight to Seattle this morning was 30min late departing due to another aircraft going to SNA taking up the gate (our aircraft was at a stand). F was nice. They offered drinks, muffin, and that's all I can remember. From wheels up to about 5 seconds before wheels down, I was asleep. The seats were nice, the service was great.
The flight from Seattle was good. I wasn't able to get F on this 734 though the seats looked bigger and a little nicer than the 737's that I had been in earlier this morning. I had booked an exit seat and to my surprise the almost full flight had left me as the only passenger in row 13. Again, from wheels up to wheels down I was asleep.
I'm sure if I were awake in the morning the $50 upgrade would have been worth it. The price differance was $199.99 ow coach, and $249.99 ow F. Total cost was less than United's Y service from SFO. AS had a fair last week for $174 r/t from SJC that I would have jumped on if I knew the dates were firm a week prior.
The service was outstanding. Upon boarding, they read your ticket, type in the seat to verify the name, then say "Matthew, thank you for flying, have a great flight". Makes it nice to know they do pay some attention wereas UA at SFO is "Put the ticket in this way, Thanks"
The flight crew was great as well. I'd fly them again if I needed a comfortable airline, great price, and in a rush. They were very much for pushing early and getting up as soon as possible.
