You already showed the facts. Star Alliance is the biggest alliance.

And don't forget about future members: Air China, Shanghai Airlines and Turkish!

Well, i know i showed the passenger stats, but the thing is that is mostly because they have many more airlines then anyone else. What about Dominance in certain areas of the world etc.?

One World will get more members 2007 too: JAL, Jordanian, MALEV...

You can also ask which one is the most profitable, OW has been doing quite well in that sense.

I will put my money on Star Alliance for sure, easy to connect between different carriers etc. Star gets my nod.

What exactly do you mean by powerful?

As noted by your figures, I would say that Star Alliance is definitely the largest of the trio. And by being the largest, they are likely able to provide the most flights, times, and overall convenience to their passengers.

World's Most Powerful Alliance?

It really depends what you mean by "powerful". You obviously showed the facts for pax carried and the number of airlines in each. However ultimately, it all comes down to an individual's needs.
For instance, even though SkyTeam isn't the biggest alliance, it's the only alliance that suits my traveling needs. In the US I do my traveling on Delta. When going transatlantic, I fly Aeroflot, Delta, and Air France. Within Europe mostly Aeroflot, Czech, and Alitalia.
I haven't had the need to go to Australia, so I don't suffer from SkyTeam's lack of connections in that region.

Therefore, for me SkyTeam is the ONLY way to go. The two companies I'm most loyal to are Aeroflot and Delta.
