Hi!

I am looking at flights from EZE or MVD to UIO and Avianca is by far the cheapest option. Now I would like to know how their service is and if they are prone to delays. The other reasonable option would be COPA. But that is over 180 USD more. TACA also comes into mind but I would like to avoid LIM, since I have already been there.

Thanks a lot!

I flew EZE-BOG on AV last month, and I would have absolutely no problem in flying them again. Their punctuality record is very good. Certainly in my case I had 5 flights in total with them and they were all on time.
EZE-BOG was 6 hours. We were given breakfast (choice of egg or fresh fruit), and then a sandwich before landing. 2 films are shown on the cabin screens. The aircraft type was a 767. Crew were corteous enough, although lacked the warmth that was prominent in the domestic legs I did afterwards.

Avianca has improved a lot in comparison with a number of years ago, thanks to different policies and management.
Staff is very friendly and truly representing the warmth of the Colombian people. On every flight there are decent meals and excellent Colombian coffee. Punctuality is ok; we have experienced few delays.
Planes are not the newest though (but still ok). Another thing that seems to happen more frequently over the last year is the "voluntarily" dumping due to overbooking, but at least the standard compensation is a free return ticket to/from anywhere in their network except Madrid. But the truth is we fly a lot so we have a bigger chance to meet with these events.

Avianca´s service is very good. Though the 767s are getting a bit old, the cabins were recently refurbished and feature new entertainment systems. Avianca is Colombia´s most punctual airline but if you plane goes tech and you are not in BOG, expect a big delay (of course this rarely happens). If there is a known delay they will call you and let you know about the new departure time.

BOG is a small airport in which it´s very easy to transit. New renovations are taking place which include a new 20-gate international temrinal, and making the current terminal the domestic area with 22 gates, pllus the AV domestic terminal with 12 gates.

LAN is a bgood airline and their service in J and F is probably the best in the region, but if you are flying coach, then there´s very little difference.

So when transfering in BOG, do you have to clear customs? I would have around 75 minutes with the current itinerary.

That should be fine. Your luggage will go straight through and there will probably only be a security check on your hand luggage.

I had about the same time, but for a domestic flight -and that meant passport control, and change of terminal, and was OK. You don't have to change terminal. In any case, AV staff are good in monitoring connections, in case you need to be rushed.
