I almost flew the inaugural flight from DEN-EGE on June 3rd. But now I will be half way around the world in Australia. Oh well. Maybe next time.

Two rules in aviation, don't hit anything and don't run out of gas, cause if you run out of gas yer gonna hit something.

If it counts, I have been on the last ever flight aith GR to AMS from GCI. Best thing was that there was only my family and me on board wich made it some sort of a vip flight.

Cayman Airways in order of most recent

We all got the flight free, as well as an after party in the terminal. lots of food and gifts, including model aircraft and extra FF miles. Inagural flights are wonderful and the presents are worth atleast $3000 KYD

I flew the first SQ flight from Singapore to Bangalore last year. We were given nice gifts at the gate and on arrival at Bangalore were garlanded and given rose etc. Other than that everything was normal and crew treated it like a regular flight. Since we reached around midnight obviously there was no water cannon salute.

Plug for my trip report of that flight:

29th March 98: The inaugural flight of LH408 from DUS to EWR operated by an Airbus A340-300. LH switched from JFK to EWR from this day on. This flight was on invitation by LH and I spend a wonderful weekend in NYC!

Born to fly! It's more than a passion - it's a yearning!! At home in DUS(Dusseldorf)!

Yo everyone, I was on the 1st flight on Jetstar on Tuesday!!! A birthday present from my friends as it was also my birthday when Jetstar entered service on the 25th, and according to the schedules our flight (JQ502, Sydney - Gold Coast (Coolangatta) was the first JQ flight to depart in Australia and the first to land too! (Though the media mentioned nothing about it!)

Flight itself was great...took numerous photos (Probably post it on the trip report sectionlater). But the meaning of the present itself was much more than anything else in the world!

My sister is going to be on the first Emirates flight from JFK to Dubai on June 1. I wonder if there will be as much fanfare as the one coming in from Dubai. I wish I were on that flight.

I was on AQ's first flight out of SMF last year. It went from SMF-BUR (where my mom lives) and then continued on to OGG. Even those of us just going to BUR got fresh flower leis, buffet breakfast in the terminal, and they had hula dancers and a Hawaiian band. Spectacular!

I forget the date but I missed AQ's inaugural KOA-SNA flight by one day. That's as close as I have ever come.

Back in the fall of 1978, I flew on Air Florida's (QH) inaugural flight MIA-IAD. It was also the first interstate flight for QH. Later on, I also flew on their inaugural international flight MIA-FPO. Those were the days.....
