For my home airport, ATL, I'd drop of all of the name B.S. and rename the airport Atlanta International Airport. The name was already a mouthful when it was just Hartsfield Atlanta International Airport, and adding the Jackson part made it even worse. The main terminal building would become the Hartsfield Terminal, and the new International Terminal would retain the name already given to it, the Jackson International Terminal. If and when the new South Terminal is ever built, I would name it the Candler Terminal (Candler Field was the original name for the airport).

If two people agree on EVERYTHING, then one isn't necessary.

Ahhhh, but it is actually named Southwest Florida International Airport!

Exactly as I'd do the same for IAH....remove the reference to Bush even though it was named for George Herbert W. Bush (41) not (43) but just flat out sounds bad these days.......so rename it Intercontinental Airport Houston.

HAJ : Amend by "Karl Jatho"
He was a local aviation pioneer; meanwhile he is getting honoured more and more, but adding his name to the present "Hannover - Langenhagen" would be the ultimate thing. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karl_Jatho

Quoting PacNWjet (Reply 17): I would rename JFK back to Idlewild (IDL). John F. Kennedy was from Massachusetts, not New York. It just makes no sense. And besides, the word Idlewild has a nice sound to it.
Perhaps renaming it to Hillary Rodham Clinton International Airport.

Ryanair has already "kindly" renamed FAO as Faro/Huelva even thought Huelva is 70 miles away!!
I wouldn't rename it anything, and totally agree with Srbmod. Some recent, IMHO, useless name amendments include LPL (John Lennon), JNB (already had a name but changed to O R Tambo), DSA (Robin Hood) and EMA (back to EMA from Nottingham EMA).
