Hi all,
i am planing a trip to Australia this September to visit some friends and traveling trough Queensland.
My travel agency has some interesting offers and nice routings for me.
The routing with CX:
FRA-HKG-BNE with B747/A330
and back
SYD-HKG-FRA with A333/B747
The routing with EK
MUC-DXB-BNE with A332/B777
and back
SYD-DXB-MUC with A345/A332
Which Airline is better to fly to Australia in your opinion? The price is nearly the same, all in Economy.
Normaly i am a frequent flyer with Qantas, but i think it´s time to try some other airlines to Australia.

I have no recent experience to speak of on those two airlines, but there have been quite a number of reviews that do not praise EK too much for their Economy Class product.
As prices are said to be comparable, I would select the carrier based on better timings. Connecting at DXB in the middle of the night is not everybody's favourite ...
Based on the info "B777", this appears to be flight EK432 which makes a stop en-route giving a travel time of 16 hours from DXB to BNE.
The flight HKG to BNE is nonstop and only 8h45min, but the FRA-HKG v/v is a longer leg, but there will be a longer stopover at HKG on the way out (unless you make that several days ...).
Overall, I would go for CX via HKG with a stopover in Hong Kong on the way to Australia (and maybe also on the return ...).

As a person who's flown all the planes on your CX routing (on CX) take them. Compared to any other airline ive flown theyre great. (but I rarely get outside the states so take that for what its worth).

Yes, this flight is actually DXB-SIN-BNE(-AKL). If you were going to SYD or MEL, EK could be an option as they operate A345s direct from DXB.
They are both good but this stop in SIN would probably discourage you.
Oh, and you get OneWorld points with CX if you are a member or some sort!

My problem with CX is the timing. My flight from FRA inbound very early and the flight to BNE leave late at night, quite a long time to be on an airport.

Thanks for your help, i think i will go with CX.

yes, flight 432 routes via SIN, and nice though changi is, i'd avoid the extra stop. bear in mind also that ek has very narrow seats in y-class, though some of your flights may have avod, which CX won't.

i've done this before and was actually quite pleased i broke the journey because if you spend a day having fun in hk, you may be able to sleep better overnight to BNE.

If possible, I would choose CX to BNE, because of the stopover in SIN. But from SYD I would choose EK because of the A345 (I would love to fly that plane).
