How & When Did You Initially Find Airliners.net

Hey guys,

Just a simple, straight forward question. How did you find anet? For me, I was exceptionally bored at work and was just about to start training in a Piper Seminole. This was in August of 2005. I Googled Piper Seminole and found the link to this page and started exploring the other links posted on the page. After that, like the geek that I am, I was hooked. I signed up within the next few days, and 970ish posts later I still love it! How about you?

I was searching for N747PA under Google, and this site came up. I did this about late 1999 or early 2000. I hung around for many years, before finally joining last July.

Brother used to post on this site. He joined in 99' and I always used to watch him read the forums ever since I was 8 years old. Finally, after 6 more years I joined in 2005.

I seached British Airways pics on google, this came up, and within 2 months, i was a member. I remember surfin the forums b4 i joined, some of the more comical members was what really got me to join. Aerowesty, Cedars747, Falcon84, AerospaceFan were the main reasons why I joined really, just wanted to be able to jump into some of the conversations.  Smile

Incidentally, I also wanted to be able to do the quiz thingy, and not just the sample.

Cheers,

One of the guys in Ops at O'Hare, when I was with ACA, would always be checking out photos of a/c at 4:00 A.M. and throughout our work shift. I finally joined the forums in January of 2005 (but left after devoting so much time to this while I was getting my dispatch license and while ACA/DH/IDE was on the verge of Ch. 7).

I had just finished with a hooker down on Van Buren St. when out of nowhere this car comes flying down the sidewalk with two guys shooting automatic weapons out the rear passenger window. I heard a loud explosion and that's when this dog ran up to me and told me to join up with Airliners.net.

We were searching for pictures of an ONA L-188 and found this site, but aDOTn didn't have such a picture yet.

I was looking for pictures of St. Maarten before the first trip I made in 2002. I had no idea about Maho Beach, or anything, until I saw the pics available here. I didn't notice the forums until a couple of years later, when I came back to find pics of some other plane.

It was so long ago, that a.net did not have more than 3000 pictures then. I then e-mailed Johan because he had misspelled the 'search' button ('seach'). He e-mailed back a 'thank you'.

I used to buy plenty of airliner magazines to keep in touch, and this site certainly saved me money.

I was googling for aircraft photos when it came up with airliners.net. I tried searching many different ways and it always came up A.net. So, I realized that this is the place to be. Initially, I was just hooked on to photo search, and it was only after I found an Air India related thread in the forum snapshot on homepage that I decided to expore further.
that's my short story.
