I'm planing a backpacking trip to Australia in November this year. Right now I've booked ARN-LHR-HKG-BNE and SYD-HKG-LHR-ARN with CX. But then I thought, would SQ be a better choice? I'm mostly thinking of the comfort onboard. What do you think? Change my reservation to SQ or keep it with CX?

Both excellent carriers from what ive heard... You should spare yourself the bother of rebooking, because really, comparing SQ with CX is like comparing apples, with well... apples... Big grin But hey, what do i know...

There is NO choice, Mr Robbie86.

SINGAPOE AIRLINES is the only way to go and DO make sure you break the journey and spend some time at Changi Airport. It is THE great arial crossroads and you will be amazed.

Plane your journey to have at leat an 18/24 hour break (there is excellent cheap budget accomodation in the transit hotels airside in each terminal and with an onward boarding card you can exit immigration and go visit Singapore as well as exploring Changi.

You will never regret it!

I have book the same trip to Down Under with CX in September this year. CX seems to be a great airline with a nice product in all off their classes. I would prefer CX to Down Under.

Hmmm... Looks like the only way is to fly CX to Australia and SQ back to Sweden  Smile

It also depends depends, Mr. Robbie, on how much flexibility you want with your ticket and whether you have already found the secret of how to obtain SQ's cheapest fare  Smile

I'd say you'd have a better chance of flying with a new product (seats) if you choose SIA. The new SIA economy seats look very comfortable and probably has the best IFE in the sky. The CX ones won't be on your route consistently for quite a while.

I would probably go for SQ, they seem to have really good product and service. Hope you have a good time in Brisbane.  Smile

Well, if you have a Boeing 747-400 with SQ then I don't know which ones because I have heard horror stories with that aircraft

If you have the 777 then pick SQ as the cabin comfort is miles better then 744

IFE is GENERALLY on demand with SQ, I dont think this is the case with CX

For more information on SQ seats visit

Dont know if it helps or not

I would do SQ ARN-CDG/ZRH/MXP-SIN-BNE so you get the new 77W with the new seats, they look very good. However, the normal Singapore product is about as good as CX product.

Economy, Business or First? - These could change who you should fly with.

Cathay Pacific is having brand new seats beginning January of 2007. Although none in service just yet, I strongly recommend you flying CX  Smile My main home carrier :P

Quoting CXfirst (Reply 9):

I'd take that option. The new 77W seats are the best, in all classes, of any other airline at the moment.
