I am planning a trip to the far east in March. I am debatting between Singapore or Thai on heir nonstop in Premium Economy.
Has anyone flown on both? Which has better legroom? Better food? Which is more recommended.
I wish I could have gotten a ticket with both, try each in every direction.

Well, in "Executive Economy" class for Singapore on the A340-500, there is 37" pitch and 20" wide. In Thai premium economy, 42" pitch and 18" width. I flew EWR-SIN, and the executive economy in Singapore was very comfortable, and the unparallel service of Singapore. Thai has better pitch, but less width, and is generally considered to be under Singapore in service. You make the choice though.

TG service is a little sketchy compared to SQ, however TG has non-stops from JFK and LAX to BKK, where SQ has a EWR and LAX non-stop to SIN. It all depends where your planing to go, and which airline alliance you belong to.

Assuming you do are not part of some bilateral agreement (thus, a hard-core Star member), I would vote for TG. SQs IFE and crew are better; food, amenities, and Y+ comfort is better with TG. However, SQ is far more consistent in providing an overall positive experience than TG.

This would be my determining factor, and of course the price.  wink

Then go with TG.

I flew TG roundtrip LAX-BKK last year in Y+ and thought it was excellent. The food and service were outstanding. Good IFE. Seat was comfortable and definitely worth the extra money.
