I am due to be travelling from SIN to LHR in early August. I have the option of travelling on either BA or QF.

I have the option of flying either the British Airways 777-200ER or 747-400, which is the better aircraft in terms of Y class? I have been on both aircraft before  Wink

I also have the choice of flying onboard a QF 747-400 on the route, how do they compare to BA? (I haven't flown QF in around 5yrs)

Which would be better; Ive been on BA many many times and really enjoy their service! Is QF really better?

Because I am only flying one-way between SIN and LHR. I am flying on Eva Air between LHR and BKK.

I'd say QF. Depending on what class your're flying you are bound to be served respectively & efficiently. But its up to you.  Smile

If you've flwon BA a lot, why not try QF for something different? Service is comparable, I think, so unless one is much cheaper than the other, just try something you haven't before!

QF is significantly better in y class than BA (i've used both).. more seat pitch, better food, better service and more aircraft are equipped with avod, i think. the service on BA tends to be geared more towards the premium cabins (the british are more hung up on status) where as QF will treat everyone with friendliness.

well, if you've had good experiences, then by all means go with what you think is best, but i stand by what i said..

Both airlines offer a great product in all classes. I have flown both airlines many times to Australia and back. In my opinion both airlines offer a similar product and for me it´s really hard to say, which airline is better or worse. The best flight in my live was on BA15 2 years ago. I had two young FA in economy and it was really a funny flight and the long flight was really to short. Wink

Both are reasonable, I'd find it hard to choose to be honest. The revenue sharing agreements between the 2 airlines on these routes probably encourage similar standards!

it's the bus to stansted (now renamed national express a4 to ruin my username)

Qantas is better than BA in Y because of:

AVOD now on most 744s-BA's IFE is horrible.
Better food and much more generous amenities, 'snackpacks', etc.
Menus and hot towels (not on BA).
Otherwise, the aircraft andf service are pretty much the same.
Actually, the best Y class product on this route by a mile is SQ.

Have a great flight!

A few years ago I would have said BA, (flew both much in Y then) but now I would say QF as they have recieved AVOD. The rest of their product isn't very different (food, service, seats).

Go for QF, I havent travelled on BA but after all the cost cutting measures I am hearing in Europe, I would go with QF. Their service is amazing

Really?
I personally hate their 747, bad seat pitch and their PTV are horrible. QF beats them by a mile in terms of clarity.
Their service is also declining these days
