Hi everyone,

I am writing an econonomics paper on discount airlines, and I was wondering what your opinion was on their service compared to the majors?

Thanks!

Well service could entail destinations of which "LCC" airlines don't come anywhere close to the legacy carriers. Southwest is considered a major, so be careful how you word it.

Everyone will have their own opinion, so I don't think a poll will help in this case.
For myself, Delta is the only way to fly in the U.S...

I will be honest here and sort it out among legacies, no favorites here.

CO, DL, UA, AA, NW, US.

The proper term is "on final" not "on finals" bud...

Allow me to make the appropriate edit  wink

CO, AS, UA, AA . . . . . and bring up a tie at the rear of the pack: DL, US, NW, in no particular order of failure.

I would change that a little to NW(Just because), AA, CO, UA, DL

Northwest Airlines. Now you're flying smart! (RIP 1926-2009)

Legacy carrier: CO

LCC: YX

There's nothing quite like a tri-jet.

Are you comparing the airlines based on F class? I know you don't fly Y usually. If you are comparing F, your ranking may be true, but if you compare Y, UA and AA fall below DL.

For those of us who fly coach there seems to be little difference between most carriers...a seat (some more comfortable than others) and beverage service. Some carriers offer Buy on Board. "Best Service" appears to be relative to the city you live in the level of service a carrier has. In Tucson WN has the best service for California destinations. AA with numerous fights to DFW and 3 to ORD offer a lot of connecting opportunities. I suggest Best Service depends on the criteria a person has...is it the milage program, First Class, upgrades, schedules, price....
