Best Airline Websites?

Some airlines have great websites, others are pretty sad. What are people's opinions on most user-friendly websites?

I couldn't get on SQ's website, but I assume it is in the top?

The site itself is easy to use and quick when booking a flight. Thats about it though. I has to be one of the ugliest sights out there though. The information on the sight is somewhat limited as well, but important stuff is listed. Its just hard to find at times.
Regarding the image, the airline is going through a bit of a rebranding, with green and blue returning as the dominant colours. The process is just a little slow though.

Probably because the airline is quite classy and one of the best out there. I personally find it annoying, it looks great but I dont like websites with too many unnecessary steps such as pages like "searching for flights" and "pick you country" they often freeze or come up with blank screens. LCCs websites like aerlingus.com ryanair.com and easyjet.com are ugly but very easy and simple to use.

I've been happy with continental.com It's better than other airline web sites I've used. Not saying it's the best of all though.

- Good features for frequent travel (automatic trip updates, etc.)
- Mobile version
- Fast (ish)
- OLCI for international flights

Problems:
- can't do any FF redemption except r/t on CO, NW, AS
- searching for r/t with different fare classes
- miles take forever (2-3 days) to post

LCCs have it easy, as they don't have to deal with multi-leg trips, tickets purchased elsewhere, etc. etc.

Their site is really nice. They really have a good page on fleet info. It really is annoying when airlines have crappy fleet information.

Easy to use, easy to look at fares, plenty of information and obviously the ones I use most these days.

Continental
Southwest
Ryanair (seems easy enough - will probably know for sure within a month or so. I'll probably be booking BVA to GRO for this summer pretty soon - I have tried "practice" bookings [everything up until providing credit card info] and so far so good)
American
Northwest
Delta
jetBlue
Alaska
ANA, while tricky sometimes, has the coolest seat maps I've seen so far.

Ones that should be improved, at least within the United States:
United
Frontier (although it's improved lately)
US Airways (easier than the old one, but annoyingly slow)
Sun Country (it's been jazzed up and looks great now, but some things are annoying, like not being able to see a seat map without having a ticket, etc)

It is true - for as relatively poor airline service is in the United States, the U.S. airlines generally have some of the better websites out there.

What more would you expect from Ryanair? They operate one aircraft type, the B737-800.
They seat 189 pax.
They have 120 in the fleet.
Plus all their orders.
Its free seating, so you don't need to know where you're goinbg to be, none of the seats recline so you don't have to be careful of your row. All you need to know is that the exit rows have more seats.

BA have one of the worst seat maps out there.

How, other than counting, is one supposed to identify the rows? At least it looks like they don't skip any row numbers, but I had to count to figure that out.

Northwest has one of the tops, everything you need is right there, searching allows you a ton of options, can book award tickets easy and so on.

CO takes huge docking points for their sub par flight tracker, if you don't know the flight you have to then click on a link, search through the schedules before you can find the flight. I also find it one of the messiest.

What's wrong with the way that works? You enter the origin, dest, & day, pick the flight, and you get the info. How else should it be done?

Besides, it's better to use flightaware.com

I would have to go with www.spiritair.com , hands down.

It's easy to navigate, has great information on anything you would be interested in, a great interactive route map, good seat maps, and really good information, including terminal maps, of all the airports served.

I agree. I use both quite frequently and find them very easy to navigate. I prefer the LX site to KL's but they're both good. One thing I don't like about the KL site is that there is no way to determine the aircraft type operating a flight as they don't display it anywhere in their schedules, or didn't the last time I checked.

BA's site is also much better since it was recently updated. I find the LH site confusing. The AF site is also not as good as KL's; it requires more clicks to do the same things in certain cases..

One thing that I find particularly bad about both the LH and AF sites is that, living in Switzerland, when you enter Switzerland as your country of residence you can no longer book in English. Your only choices are French or German. I'm sure both carriers lose signficant potential revenue from Switzerland due to the lack of an English booking capabillity, especially with so many expatriates working for the UN and other international organizations and several large multi-national companies based in GVA. LX, KL and BA all permit you to book in English regardless of country of residence. The problem with the LH and AF sites seems to be that it doesn't handle more than 2 languages, and with both French and German being official languages in Switzerland (also Italian), AF and LH pick the two dominant local languages and thus lose their English capability.

For bookings from Switzerland, both the LX and KL sites permit you to select English, French, German or Italian, and BA has English, French and German. Although I can cope with French, LH and AF would get more of my business if I could book in English.

Once you have booked and are selecting or changing your seat or using their web checkin facility, the BA seat maps are very good and clear. The seat maps in the link you included above are only for general information and don't include all the multiple seating configurations on their various types.

I like the "Actual Information" menu item under Travel Information on the KL site. The other items are not real information? (I guess it's from the Dutch meaning of the similar word).

One less click. Perhaps a suggestion to the CO web team is in order.
But... you still have to search through the flights, just like NW (and every other airline that I know of).

What, no Italian or Romansh? I guess Switzerland doesn't enforce multilingualism like Canada does. The lack of Italian is sort of dumb, as LH and AF certainly have an Italian language site.

Oh, that's just wrong. So wrong. No complete schedule with aircraft type, meals, etc. like this: http://timetable.continental.com/COTTpdf.asp (PDF link).

www.aerlingus.com is much better now. It has just been updated with the new logo and a more "Irish" image. It has the same layout but just looks better.
