Well, what do any of you say to the captain when de-planing?

I tend to just say thanks for the flight, sometimes I add in a little comment if I find the landing to be exceptional. Or if it was bad weather and they were a good crew who tried to do what they could, I said thank you to them.

I always try to make them feel how grateful I am with them. A lot of people deplane and don´t give a damn about who has been flying the plane, but as of us, aviation buffs, I think it´s important to let them know that the "job" was well done!!!!  Big thumbs up

Cheers,

I usually just thank crewmembers present for the flight and their time.

I never comment on the landing itself because you never know who is PF or PNF, though I will usually comment on the approach if it was particularly beautiful or one I usually enjoy - as that's something both persons up front can appreciate.

I thought the F/O's usually were the ones that went out. Why is that, does anybody know. Thanks.

If it was a good landing, the captain goes out. If it was a bad landing, the captain sends the FO out.  Big grin

I always thank them for their time and for a good flight no matter what. I feel that any flight you can walk away from is a good one. Recently I have been asking for the flight plans as well. All crews have been very accommodating, some even have gone through their trash to find it for me.

I stare at them with a mean, menacing look if they didn't perform any violent, high G maneuver....  Smokin cool

"Thanks for a good ride" are the words I most commonly speak to the flight crew, if and when they make an appearance to pax during the deplaning process.

Since most of my travel by air is as a non-rev, there is a "kindred spirit" bond when flying with my employer airline, and by extension to crew and staff of other airlines since we are all members of the airline industry where we have an unwritten code of conduct that we respect and give due honor to other members of our industry, even if they work for an arch-rival airline.

Always tell them I like their airplane. Which is true since I flown on very, very few that I didn't like.

Landing at ARN with a 735, I noticed we had a pretty good descent rate 'til seconds from touchdown (nothing scary but noticeable).

The captain stood in the jetway and said good evening to everybody, I stopped, asked him if my observation was correct to which he replied: "The first officer is learning..."  Big thumbs up

I'm usually commuting to or from work on YX so I have otten to know a lot of their guys. I always tell them "Thanks for the Ride." If its a landing where we bounce and the land I say "Wow, you get to put two landings in the log book for this leg, not a bad deal." It usually gets a laugh or two.

Nice Trip Report!!! Great Pics, thanks for posting!!!! B747Forever
