Hi!

I don't know if this is possible, but I'll be traveling with AF in June so I would like to know if there is a way to reserve my seats in AF, via Internet or via phone, maybe some of you have already a good experience doing that. When I flew with CO I could do it via Internet, with KL for example it was by telephone. Any ideas I will remain very thankfull.
Regards

Hi,

On Air France longhaul flights it is usually possible to make a seat reservation by telephone.

Hi Flykoreanair!

Thanks a lot for your great help. I called AF and they actually reserved my seats for my long-haul flights, for my european ones that is not possible, only when you check-in, either via Internet or at the airport...that's fine with me! I'm glad that on the longer flights I have a window seat!
regards

Hi Jose !

Booking a seat on an AF flight is possible but it depends on how you have made your reservation.
There is no porblem if you have booked your flight in an AF agency or on the AF Website.

But if you have made your reservation in a travel agency or on a web broker, it is often imposible : only Air France can notice in your reservation file that you have requested a seat and AF often doesn't have access to the reservations made by Travel agencies or Internet brokers.

In any case, Call AF reservation center/agency and they will tell you whether they can do it or not.

Hi,

I think you now can select it one line during booking. You definitively can with e-ticket during check-in, to a certain point. It's possible either from the kiosk and the web site, but with a rather limited choice.

Enjoy your flight with AF!

Hi WCS!

Thanks for your information, I hope to have the chance to make my e-check in the day before I fly!!! I'm looking forward to fly with AF again after 26 years....my one and only time I flew with them was back to September 1981 from ORY to LIS in the Airbus A300 F-GBEB.....those A300's have been gone long time ago right???
Regards

Hi,

Where will you fly with AF? Do you already know the type you will fly? Regarding the A300's, I really don't know, but I assume it was in the mid 90's

Hi WCS!

Guess this...I'm travelling to Congo! So I'll fly LIS/CDG/FIH/CDG/LIS...I had a previous reservation flying with KL/KQ via AMS and NBO to FIH and return with AF FIH/CDG/LIS...but KL dropped that reservation, so I was re-booked with AF! I'll fly A320 LIS/CDG/LIS and A330-200 CDG/FIH/CDG....and I'm looking forward to fly in the "nice looking" A330-200's to and from Congo! That's interesting because I always expected to fly the A330-200 first with TP but I guess it will be with AF! Any details about the in-board service? I looked to AF homepage and some reports and it looks that will be " La France ráfinee!!! " and I'll not complain!!!
regards

Hi,

You are guy quite lucky. Ok, I will hate to be bumped on AF due to a KL cancellation. I actually was in October and I was mad. But, I flown the A330 with AF some years ago, it was a great experience! You have live camera during takeoff, flight and landing, if I recall correctly. Try to have a bulkhead seat to gain some extra legs room.

Regarding in board service, I never experienced AF to Africa, but it should be consistent with Long Haul product. You can expect an aperitif, a hot meal (with our choice of main course between two), and, providing the flight last, some snacks. There is also always plenty of soft drinks/water in the galley during the whole flight. You will have PTV, nice FA and average seats.

Hope you will have an excellent trip!

Raphaël

Hi!

Thanks Raphaël for your information regarding AF and their A330's....actually for me I don't mind flying with AF at all...I flew KL in 2005 from LIS to KIX via AMS, in their 738's ( LIS/AMS/LIS ), 777 ( AMS/KIX ) and 744 ( KIX/AMS ) so it's great to fly now AF. I'll post my trip report afterwards so you can check it out! By the way I'll arrive to CDG at 22:00 so I'll have to stay a night in an hotel nearby, do you advice me in any nice, not very expensive hotel close to CDG that I could stay?
regards

Hi,
Actually, I live in the South West, far from Paris. I typically commute in CDG during the day with no long layover. I can tell you that the Sheraton seems to be cool but always **very** expensive. Last year, I had to spend a night at CDG. I was able the grab a €99 rate at the Hilton. I received a free upgrade on top of that (as a Gold Member, which I’m not Big grin) plus a voucher for a bottle of wine. Pretty cool! This hotel is excellent. Apart that, you could maybe give a try at www.accorshotels.com, as Accor have an extensive room inventory around CDG, from Sofitel (upper market) to Formule1 (lower)
Hope this Help

The last A300 was retired from service by Air France in August 1998.
