Many of us are following the development and build of the first 787. That baby is getting a lot of attention during its gestation. Do you think it deserves a name? Boeing, or maybe ANA, have the official right to name the first one, but hey, why can't we give our suggestions, or even find a nick-name from the A.net community?
Here are a couple that I thought of . . .
Since the first baby will grow up in Japan with ANA, it could be a traditional Japanese name often used for first children:
- Taro, if you think the plane is a boy, or
- Hanako, if you think the plane is a girl
It would be nice. There was already one groundbreaking and still highly successful aircraft that had a name and was the first ever of its kind. That was Line Number 1, 747-121, aka City of Everett.

If the plane is gonna be a Japanese baby, I think they should name her Sakura, which is the Japanese word for cherry blossom. Cherry blossoms are one of the most beautiful and alluring attractions from Japan, and I think the name is just as beautiful.
