Hey all, so this is a double pronged post. Some of you might recall that I wanted to fly out of GVA to BEY earlier on and asked for routings then. Plans have shifted, and it seems now that I'll be flying straight out of JFK. What would be the most cost effective way to do so? Do you think I might be able to keep the ticket below $1000? The best I can find is $1400+ on EK with a ridicously long layover in DXB. Travel would be towards the end of July.
I was considering exploring TK. Seeing as though they just joined the Star Alliance, was wondering if I can already accure miles on their flights into my United account by July?

TK hasn't joined *A officially yet. You can so far only earn miles on LH flights as far as I know.. Better call the TK office in New York
IST-BEY flights are usually at night so you would have a ridiculous layover in IST too... However, there is one day flight on Wednesday or Thursday which should work out fine.. You would still have about 6 hours layover on the way back though...
It all depends when you want to fly ... but if it's for the summer, forget it ! you won't find anything under $1400/$1500
Though not Star Alliance members, the best connections you can find from JFK are with AF/AF or AF/ME via CDG :Same fares, all flights are code shared and you can chose between 3 x Daily CDG-BEY-CDG (AF B773ER, ME A321, ME A330) in connection with 6 x Daily CDG-JFK-CDG.
