I am taking Delta to Quito in June. I was wondering if anyone has flown on this flight before? Also, is the 757-200 used on the route equipped with the new IFE yet?

I took AA to UIO from MIA. Nice enough flight. Never have done DL. Should be enjoyable. Let us know how it is.

I have flown DL to UIO. It was last October. The 757 didn't have the new entertainment system. Just the monitors suspended above the aisles.
It was still a very nice flight on the way down. Dinner in both classes of service as well.
The flight back to ATL stops in GYE. It's kind of a pain because you leave UIO late at night and get to GYE where you have to get off of the airplane with your carry-on luggage, clear security and then wait around an hour or so until they begin boarding the flight again. You then have to have your carry-on luggage hand-searched again during the boarding process. It's just a very long night.
We had breakfast between GYE and ATL, but I'm not sure if they still have breakfast service.

That is the only thing I am dreading, the stop in GYE. It sounds like a big hassle and it really doesn't make sense that you have to get off the plane and then go through security and then re board and go through security again. Also, what do I need in terms of airport taxes and other fees, i have heard they are pretty high there.

Also, I am looking at the seat map on delta.com for my flight to Quito on June 22 and I see there is no economy class seats left, is their a good chance I could be upgraded to Business class? I did not book the ticket, the organization that I am going with for a study abroad did and I should have the ticket soon. Also, are these flights usually thid full?

Unfortunately, I probably won't be able to go to Guayaquil. I am staying with a family in the Quito area and will live with them for 6 weeks. The only way i will be able to see GYE is is my host family takes me traveling around the country.

It's very doubtful that you'll be upgraded if you're booked in coach and aren't eligible for an upgrade. When I went to UIO back in October, there were roughly 60 people on the flight. On June 22, it looks to be oversold by 1 in the coach cabin, but that changes daily.

Well, I don't really care if i get upgraded. I am just waiting for my finals to be over and an awesome summer to start. Also, I can't tell the organization that UIO sucks and I would rather be in GYE because they have to find a family that matches your personality and needs and that is not up to me. I would love if you could tell me the places to go and the places not to go.
