I am sitting in SQ's first class lounge right now awaiting a flight to HKG. it is nothing special at all. The boarding passes are nice though.. lol. Honestly The plane looks immaculate from the window, and Im sure inside service and comfort will be astounding. Im just not impressed with the lounge.. That being said, I will let you know tommorow how they fly!

Unfortunately I can't afford the first class ticket, so I will be down the back with the rest of the mob.

Depends which airlines have you flown before

If it is like UA then expect ALOT, but if it is like QF, then expect equal or a bit better service. I have personally felt that the service has been gradually declining at the back, with premium getting 1000X more attention than they did 5 years ago, but none the less it is still one of the best airlines around

Here is a trip report from me on SQ SIN - DEL

SQ is one of the only five Skytrax's 5 Star Airlines. You'll experience one of the best airlines plus one of the best airports, SIN.

You have been flying for how long now? (I had a peek at your profile)

I think we should leave the comment to people who actually flew frequently over the years.

Sorry if I seem rude, but seriously, don't believe everything you read on A.Net or heard from your father's best friend's neighbour's second cousin mother-in-law.

Funny that, I'm sitting in the SIN business class lounge right now and waiting for a flight to CPH.

Just came from PER in regional business class and I felt it was amazing (havn't flown much biz class before), and I can't wait for my business class CPH flight.

In December I flew with SQ to FRA and back in Y. It was an enjoyable flight, good entertainment offerings, good food, and excellent service. People keep on saying that service-wise SQ has dropped, it probably has, but it is still excellent.

Of course you can trust no one on the internet, so you believe what you want, but if someone started a thread in which I thought I could help, I helped him.

I dont know if this will help but here is a forum for people who fly SQ and those who know a lot.

Hey hey,

I love SQ Economy. In fact I would pick them as my first choice when flying Economy between Sydney and the UK for the following reasons:

-friendly cabin staff - who are young, generally attentive, friendly and mostly enjoy their jobs and serving people
-amazing inflight entertainment - including AVOD which some airlines don't even offer in BUsiness class! - including a LARGE collection of games and movies.
-Seat pitch is average but apparently 1" more than the likes of Qantas and BA - 1" makes a difference if you're 6 foot tall like me.
-The food is generally good out of Singapore including their tasty chilli sauce - ask for it! if you like things hot.

As stated before people say the service has dropped and become more robotic - yes it has a little but it still is SO much better than anything on QF/BA/ and even some of the other Asian carriers!

Also, I've travelled Raffles class a few times which was amazing- where they serve yummy iced chocolates - tell the stewardess you miss them and is there any chance she can bring you one - best to ask in the middle of the night when its dead quiet im sure they'll be happy to get you one. I often chat with them as they're such a friendly bunch and often it 'happens' to come up in conversation hehe - and they always are happy to make one :P

Have a good trip... any questions send me a private...

I rest my case  Smile

Sorry to have a go at you, but seriously, just travelling 1-2 times a year makes it pretty hard to detect changes in service level. Who knows, you could just have 2 sets of mediocre crew on those flights that skewed your opinion.

And to the OP, all I can suggest is go on the flight with an open mind, most information in regards to aboard amenities and services can be found on the SQ website. Enjoy the flight and make your own judgement if it's one of the best flights you've had.... or not  Smile

AFAIK having two sets of mediocre crew in two flights with SQ is a rarity, and I never said the crew were mediocre even once. I just said that the service has gradually declined. The crew are still amazing albeit robotic, and SQ is still a great airline and beats alot of other airlines out there, but comparing SQ three years ago and SQ with today, I am pretty sure that most will say that the service has dropped a little but none the less it is still a great airline.

The economy class is probably better than other airlines business class in service and overall flight experience, but when comparing the airline with the recent past and present then the service has certainly dropped.

Some people have seemed to say the exact same thing, why don't you argue with them, if not with them than CXFirst, because he is the same age as me, or is it because he is from Norway and has more money so he can travel in business class. Are you showing how racist Australians can be, or is it that you are jealous that an Indian can afford to travel on SQ while an Aussie cant?

I still did say that SQ is still one of the best around in my first post but the service has dropped a little and CXFirst and Ansett767 also agree.

Living in Singapore, I have had the privilege of having SQ as one of my choices for most of my overseas travel. My recent experiences on SQ in the last 12 - 18 months were from Singapore to Thailand, Taiwan, Malaysia and New Zealand - all in economy class. Before that, I have also flown SQ on sectors involving Australia and Europe.

You should be able to expect the following:

Pre-flight:

a) If your tickets are booked online, you would be able to select your seats after booking.

b) Internet check in is available from 48 hrs before departure.

At airport:

a) Dedicated counters are available for passengers who checked in online.

b) In Singapore (for your connection), you go through one of the best airports in the world.

In-flight:

a) PTV in all seats. A wide range of programmes/games to choose from. For more info, refer to the airline website.

b) Warm/ cold towels are given to help passengers refresh themselves.

c) A choice of hot meals. If you need special meals, you may make this request to the airline. Last year, I requested for seafood meal for my flights to AKL and I noticed that I was served before the other passengers who had not made any requests. Also, ice-cream was served. So, enjoy!

d) Lavatories - these are stocked with amenities like toothbrushes, etc. The crew make an effort to clean up the lavatories during the flight.

e) Seat wise - generally comfortable. Seems like there is more leg space on their 777s than their 747s.

f) As for the crew, they are generally efficient and professional; they will try as far as they could to make all passengers comfortable.

I believe you should find SQ a good product after your trip. Here's wishing you a happy and comfortable journey.

Cheers.
